Best replacement for EDMU digital?

A little background, as I know to leave things alone if right. Initial problem was electronic gauge set at 120 default bar. No bueno as reg is set at 112 and it’s staying there. If I have to dissemble a rifle to change reg, pre load or throw, I’d rather buy dedicated rifles. So if you understand how these gauges work, you realize that default setting is going to give me inaccurate readings on everything.

Then, it’s fluctuating in psi with an upwards pointed arrow. Read all 16 pages of PDF, again, for the 7th time.

Time to reset. Tried staple to 1st & 4th contact with plastic tweezers. Held there 20 seconds. Nothing. Thank goodness for the PDF as you need to hold screen pressure button in 12 seconds for somethings. Time to take battery out, no capacitor but give it 10 seconds anyway. Put back in. Worked. Tried to set min P. No go. Disassembled again & see loose connection. I’m done. It’s way too fragile, complicated & inaccurate as you can shoot only single shot but say shoot 5 shots in 5 minutes it comes back up like you only shot 3 10 minutes later. I want a regular gauge & asking what’s the best one I can get? Through Brian? This EDMU needs the 4 wires to contacts reattached right. Not oops, took battery out not sure if I did it or one was loose. It’s not solder either. Some type of silicone glue. Not sturdy at all so be very very careful if you need to reset or change battery. The O-ring was broken also and PDF stresses do not double up wires. There’s no harness & they’re like snakes on amphetamines for God’s sake. OH, and, once you remove gauge cover be VERY careful not to let port cover pull away from reservoir tube as a very small detent ball & spring are set in there. Good thing I was sitting down in very good light. It’s never find it again in carpet small.

I highly respect Ed as I worked under Russian electricians. Learning that trade when not knowing anything but Nyet (no) & privet (hello) wasn’t easy. They are so different. They’re usually devout but also very interested in merging humans/cyborgs & anything else technically inclined no matter what. I understand Ed wanting to progress but I’m not a fan of this gauge. If everything was externally adjustable & gauge worked more consistently, plus if it wasn’t so fragile in the attached leads, I’d have liked it.

So, I simply want a good analog gauge & be VERY careful with your electronic one if you like it. Mine just reads 9999 under psi. Yeah. It simply needs to be rewired & set correctly. If anyone can do that I’d pay them as I’d like it as an extra or to sell. I’m ready to break out my jewelers loop, magnifying glass & old electronic tool box but I’ll wait until I get some replies & talk with Brian. Maybe he’ll take the EDMU & send me a good 4500-5000 psi Wika or better instrumentation pressure gauge.

You had me at merging humans and cyborgs.

They look at AI as furthering intelligence, not as artificial. They think differently & are very dedicated beyond what most people think as normal. Ah screw it. The point is I want analog if high tech is problematic & I see it as so. As much as I want to shoot a Red Wolf, I wouldn’t buy one.

I just have to admit that we made to complicated device for the "everyday user". By admiting it we now making the simplier versions of EDMU. In the main menu only "Pressure" and "Shot countt" are left, the rest of the adjustment "hidden" in the service menu.

As for 120 bar the gauge set at factory and the pressure the regulator set -- I cannot see any problem. The procedure of the setting the gauge according to your regulator's pressure is written detailed (maybe too much detailed). In fact that is easy. Just keep the pressure in the reservoir you want to set you gauge to and then follow setting P min proceddure. It takes you just 20-30 seconds.

Will try to make a detailed video manual about the new version of EDMU soon.

Anyhow -- we cannot avoid coming electronics to the weapon as it came to cars before. So, just need to get used to it :)

You can set them to only turn on when you press button or to come on after every shot.

Mine was bought used and I found the PDF but it wasn’t acting right. This morning before I ever popped screen off it was stuck on psi with upward pointing arrow & fluctuating 10-12psi continuously. I held the button to reset. Finally had to take battery out. It was glitching & reseting. The leads are probably the only thing wrong with it. Oh & I noticed screen got a lot brighter if battery was held in better.

I’m trying to get ahold of Brian as I’d like to buy an analog one right away & have this one repaired.

I almost broke my (trigger) finger today just trying to get mine to come on in my new R5! The damn thing just wouldn't come on until I applied as much pressure as I could possibly apply - and then some.

The one in my Leshiy crapped out after a month, and I had replaced it with a Huma analog gauge. Well, that Huma gauge turned out to be inaccurate, but I just dealt with it. When I decided to add another EdGun to my arsenal, I ordered two Wika gauges shortly after to nip the problems in them both. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for them to arrive - I had placed an order with CSG, who sent me a "shipped" email 2 weeks ago, but their website kinda sucks for order tracking (sending them an email after I hit reply on this).

The Wika gauges are solid.

I know this is an old thread but … I had my EDMU on an FX Wildcat for 5 years without any issues or failures After a few battery changes two of the wires finally came loose.

I was heartbroken. I love this gauge, if you don’t that’s fine but I love it.

I went on Edgun West and found they were no longer sold. I did another search and found the EDMUII on the Edgun site, IN STOCK. Needless to say I bought one immediately. It arrived in Northern California from Russia in 4 days!

It’s on my Wildcat and working flawlessly.

note: I have purchased a couple Sekhmet gauges for other rifles. They’re not on the same level as the EDMU in my opinion.

IF I ever go to a digital gauge, all I want is to know how much gas is left in the tank. A simple ON?OFF is what I will buy, no darn complicated menus for doing diagnostic evaluations,,, and not stick out like a sore thumb

Elwood:
It's a hundred and six miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.
