Best rangefinding scope for FT

Sorry if this is a repeat question but I've searched and not been able to find anything.

I'm looking for suggestions for a good quality scope for FT Open class. I've been using a Bushnell 4200 8-32 for many years and it is pretty good but not great for ranging. It is light, clear and has been very dependable.... just doesn't range as well as I would really like. I have an Aztek Emerald 25 on one rifle and a Burris 8-32 on another and those are worse than the Bushnell. I've also checked some of the more current match results with little real success.

I've seen a couple of March scopes, Schmidt & Bender, and Sightron scopes that people are using and seem to be pretty good. I would really prefer not to spend more than what the Sightron is going for (around $1100 ?) but the Sightron's are quite heavy and really upsets the balance of the rifle. I've seen Leupold's in use but not checked them out and the Leupold site doesn't seem too helpful in defining which will focus to 10 yards.

Soooo..... the most important attributes to me, in order:

  1. dependability
  2. clarity
  3. small depth of field
  4. weight
  5. cost
  6. other(such as side parallax)

Thanks and I look forward to your responses,

    Bob

https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/hawke-10-50x60/ Bob, Here is a thread about what you are asking I have been in the same boat you are about the best scope for Hunter class. This may answer some of your questions hopefully! I have the Sightron SIII F/T built specially for F/T and I do like it very much but If I were to do it over I would go with the Hawke ED and save myself a few hundred dollars!! If there is a difference it is very minimal at 16 power and not worth the money difference in my honest opinion.. J.L.

I own 3 NIghtforce fixed 36X scopes. These range find perfect and clarity optics are great. These are no longer sold but a want to buy add may work. It so not a side wheel. Factory yardage markings are accurate. I think Leupold fixed similar power scopes are just as good.

My other scope is a Schmidt and Bender 10-50 side wheel. Mine is the first generation and is very temperature sensitive. However this is not a big problem because I bought an adjustable pointer from the UK my Maestro. I cam calibrate the yardage for the current temperature.

March scopes are prolly the best and the price is high, so is Schmidt and Bender, but I got mine for $1500 used.

The Krale with focus wheel mounted on top is used by one guys. I don't have any experience with this scope buy I'm pretty sure users are satisfied.
