Best Compact glass for the money?

Mmmmm....., that Vortex Razor HD LH 3-15×42 has a minimum parallax of 20 yards. 🤔

For a scope for shorter ranges this seems counterintuitive.... If this was a 8-32x that might be fine, but I would definitely need the 10 yard minimum parallax on a 3-15x.... 😟

Just saying.

Vortex has almost NO scopes that parallax down to 10 yards — I get the impression they must not care much for airgunners. It's really too bad.

I have the DISCOVERY VT-3 3-12X44 SF FFP First Focal Plane Rifle Scope and it's sweet but first focal plane is awful. I know it's the fad right now and everyone's gotta have one but it's really only useful on max zoom otherwise the retical is so small that you'd never be able to use it. I find it so funny how we all fall into these traps, all my scopes are first focul plane now and I'm going to sell them. Scope stickers with yardage markers are more practical and make adjustments not just easier but so much more accurate.

So all FFP scopes are a fad and a trap and only useful at max zoom? All FFPs are not alike, I have two different brands and the reticles are useable throughout the magnification range. Could it possibly be your scope choices?

JeffDodge,

Not all FFP scopes are created equal.

For example I had a FFP Bushnell LRHS 3-12x44 "hunting" scope. Keep in mind that originally this scope was a $1500 retail scope for one thing, but the other thing was the reticle was properly designed to work well at 3x, very well at 4x, and so on. Sweet is a relative term, I think the LRHS might just win over the $200 Discovery this time, it really is a SWEET scope.

Though I get your point. You might have Discovery'ed what doesn't work for you in how you use a riflescope.

SFP or FFP, use what suits the application best, and this includes all the scopes specific features.

I have Vortex viper pst gen 2 2-10x32 with min parallax at 20y but it actually focuses down to ~ 15y, image is sharp at 10y @x8. Good glass / great warranty. Choose Leupold efr if not vortex
