"best" bullpup

I have 2 old cricket compact..reliable n accurate really a sin to sell them , they have its place in the collection of desirable pcp of the past.... but after using a side level guns.. like the uragans or cricket 2 ..n now vulcan 3 ... there is nothing like it .. there is no way a rear cockin gun would be better - not in ergonomics..or the facility to a second fast shoot without taking the eyes off the scope taipan guns are based in a old pellet shooting design.. guns are Evolving .. just look at the power bump from the uragans to the vulcan 3 .. I'm more than satisfied with the power of my uragans..n the barrels are slug ready... first time I could say that from a new gun purchase..so satisfied that I'm not interested in anything new.. unless a .224 pcp come to the market.. the taipan trigger will always be the best I have used in my 2 taipan longs .. but sold them both right away...I have more regret of the benjamig bulldog I recently let go .. that for those 2 ..

I have a few Crickets (original .25, II, and II Tactical). I have to say this one is my fav...

It's accurate and just feels right to me. Having the smaller optic on it also helps with Kalibrgun's weight problem!

Most of todays bullpup triggers are 99% the same design, yes, even (noted above) the Taipan, same as the rest !

If you want the simplest, most direct bullpup trigger, you want either the Daystate Renegade or the better Pulsar. They have electronic triggers. NO...linkage...anywhere. Despite what others may say, there is NO other trigger as precise as the Daystate trigger. People that say not, just don't know ! I have more than my share of bullpups, NOTHING beats the Daystate trigger. While it does...have a rear cocking lever, it's still on top trigger wise. Accuracy, they are right up there with the rest. Most of todays, name brand bullpups will shoot close to 1" groups at 100 yrds., so that should not be a worry.

One of the other very well built trigger is the Weihrauch HW100 bullpup. A very solid German design and machined gun. While it's similar to the rest, it's done a little different, very solid.

As you've seen here...there IS NO "best" !

Bullpups were originally designed as..."close combat weapons". A rifle that can be easily used inside of a building. "Easily" being the key word.

A true "bullpup" should be no longer than 30", by their "original" design, this include the addition of a suppressor ! The rest are just normal, long barreled rifles with the action behind the trigger ! Or as some call them, semi-bullpup !

In a somewhat order (all of the below are very accurate guns, even to 75 and 100 yrds) -

1. Airmaks, Caiman (or Caiman X), much more than people give them credit for, a very solid gun.

2. RTI, Prophet Compact, another very solid choice. Can be made pretty quiet to keep it short (without the addition of a suppressor).

3. Uragan Compact, Great little gun, easy to shoot

4. FX, Wildcat Compact, Another great gun, easy to shoot

5. / 5-1/2, Daystate, Renegade and Pulsar, Yes, they have a rear mounted cocking lever, BUT, they have a trigger (electronic) that can't be matched.

6. Edgun, Lelya, a solid, tough gun. The cocking is a little stiff. Can be beat around in the bush, with no damage.

Don't forget the newer Cricket II's too. The Compact and the Tactical are also worth a look.

There others but they are over your dollar value.
Hey Mike!
No, brother, a bullpup can be huge and long sniper rifle. I think what you meant is Compact carbines. Those are for combat in tight spaces. A bullpup is just a rifle where the trigger group is forward of the mag, it is made to put a long barrel relative to the overall size of the gun. could be a 12'' or a 30'' barrel. In airguns, Bullpups are especially useful because barrel length matter much more here.
