BEST AIRGUNS

I would not have a clue which is the absolutely best. But I am not sure why FX gets knocked around. Must be the problems I heard with the Impact. I own 4 FX rifles & one is nearly 10 years old. Other than replacing a couple breech o rings, they never had a single problem. All four have functioned perfectly. I also have a Vulcan but only had it a year, so far no issues. Maybe I am just lucky. I have owned, Daystate , Evanix, & one other Korean rifle & no issues with them either.

Most quality control issues = FX

Most high priced rifles that all use the same valve from .22 to .30 cal = FX

Due to the 2nd point I mentioned which is clear across all the current platforms, calling them revolutionary is a stretch. Due to their lack of hammer debounce and their primitive method by over springing and using an extremely lightened hammer, that further knocks them down the 'revolutionary' pedestal...

An American Air Arms Slayer is light years ahead of any FX rifle on the market, yet so many fan boys here wouldn't know revolutionary if it hit them in the face.

Who told you FX is lacking a hammer debounce device. My wildcat did. The hammer was positively in "negative" preload (gap)

Debounce Device missing? Requiring a debounce device is a sign of inferior design. FX just works and doesn't need the debounce device.

Having a gap between hammer and hammer spring also known as free floating hammer is considered a "debounce device" combatting hammer bounce so I guess your FX is inferior according to your definition...so would a Taipan Veteran....and Im sure many other high dollar guns that I haven't owned personally but sure they have that feature as well as that's what most "superior" guns have.

Back on Topic, there's many choices that I'm sure you'll find can be the "best" gun but it's all opinions from us here from personal use. And more often than not your personal use will dictate what kind of gun. If you want a bench gun a RAW, Daystate RW, FX Royale/Boss/Crown would fit best. Bullpups you have Taipans, Edgun, Crickets, Vulcans, Wildcats and Impacts. Or if you want American made there's WAR, AAA, RAW, Mac1, Thomas. Never owned a FX so can't comment on those but have owned AA S510 Ultimate Sporter, Daystate Regal XL, RAW HM1000X, Taipan Veterans, BSA R10 and Scorpion, WAR WARP COBRA, and many many other guns from high end to low end. Never really had any issues with any of them. But some fit me much better than others. Go with what you think you want and try it. If you don't like it, sell it and try something else.

Dairyboy, interesting comment about the floating hammer. Others claimed that FX didn't have a debounce device, so was inferior. you now say it does have a debounce device by design, so by my inferior by my definition. So, we can argue about what's a better design till the cows come home, point being, certain persons here making claims about design that I really put in the "1 Star" ratings category. They seem to have opinions not backed up by facts, or real life experience.

I do agree with your comment, "Go with what you think you want and try it. If you don't like it, sell it and try something else" though. The only way to figure out what you want is to get into the game and use the gun. There is no best gun for all applications, but there may be a best gun for whatever you want to do with it.

The original question about QC problems was a bait, and it did stir up some discussion. Bottom line, everyone has an opinion, and all opinions on this board are worth what was paid. The only opinion is the shooter deciding if they like the gun they are shooting for whatever the application.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend any major manufacturer like FX or Crossman, or a couple others. No way would I recommend any gun imported by Umarex (Umarex isn't a manufacturer, just an importer). In my opinion, The QC at Umarex is questionable at best. FX, Daystate, Crosman and other majors will stand behind products. Other vendors, not so much.

Hello OP … Hope you are having a great Xmas. I have a question … Best Airgun is what way ? Performance, build quality, efficiency ?

I will go with build quality alone. My friend has a mint condition Ripley XL9. He also has a slew of other air rifles. Every brand is his claim to collecting. Having shot ALL of his air rifles. I can tell you NOTHING is made as well as that Ripley. It is literal smooth as butter perfection, made with parts like the finest Swiss watch. It is VERY over built, and beyond high end.

Nothing made today comes close. For modern air guns, I would have to say Daystate has the best build quality. The most "high end" look and feel to my eyes and hands. Not necessarily the best QC, but I would not know this. JMO

I have 3 FX guns and I have to say they are the pride and joy of my collection! My bobcat 30 dates back 5 years has shot thousands of rounds and still holds air with zero leaks or problems. The impact is perfect and the newest of the batch is the wildcat mk2 compact also no problems. I'm sure if half the people who complain of malfunctions with FX guns were to come clean it would boil down to operator error from improperly trying to adjust or modify their guns, most never read the manual and just start tinkering. It needs to be understood that they are precision instruments and should be treated as such.

It's about time FX is finally given the credit they deserve on this forum for the fine guns they build that bring many hours of pleasure to their owners. I and all the guys I shoot with have always considered them reliable, accurate and good looking ( except maybe the bobcat but its so accurate ya gotta give it a pass ).

Just my 2 cents on the subject cause I;m sick of the FX bashing, half the people doing the bashing don't even own one and never have.

I 110% agree. Especially with the last paragraph !!!
