Took this Benjamin Trail NP2 on a trade knowing the barrel is bent. I will see if I can straighten it out before buying a new one.

Some one must have wanted to shoot around a corner with that one. Is it the barrel or the lock up?

Its the barrel. I attempted to straighten it and its not really going well. So for $26 Ill just buy a new barrel. I will hold onto this one never know when having a 22 barrel around will come in handy.

At the moment I plan on keeping it but if I decide to get rid of it I will let you know first.

Looks like somebody slam fired it or let go of the barrel before it cocked. NC Ed bends his barrels using a couple tree trunks or a fixture something like this-

. 300 yard barrel...that was funny. sometimes i can use a hydralic jack to do basically the same thing as the guy with the clamps. if you got a new np2 barrel from crosman for $26 - that's cheap. seems they used to closer to $40. they are not chinese barrels - like trail xl and others. and the threads on the end are 1/2 x 20 ... i kept the barrel from that part when i mounted a .20 lw barrel into that barrel block and i had the barrel lathed down to the 22xx size (7/16" od) . i screwed a silencer or pickle on it and it seems as accurate as the 18" .22 barrels from the 2400kt guns. the bad thing about bending the barrels back is that they will be weak there , but i usually dont have any probs. i'm actually suprised it isnt bent worse from the np2 strut....one cool thing , tho , is that you dont have to release the end plug holding that ram to change those barrels - you gotta have a compressor for gas rams. i tried .25 and .20 on np2 guns , but .22 seems the best way to go. i have a .177 black lightning np2 that the jury is still out on . - raneman .

I have a Benjamin Steel Eagle NP2 and the barrel slipped while I was cocking it right after I cleaned the barrel, tightened up all the screws and gave all the hinge points some lube, GO FIGURE!
It bent right near the breech block. I removed the barrel from the action, put it in a vice and "readjusted" it back with a leather mallet. All is fine and working as good as ever. You could try it like in the pictures above with the barrel still on the receiver but I would worry about putting undue stress on the lockup mechanism. It's a little more work to remove it but you can bend it right where it needs it and not put a "wave" in the barrel. It's easy!

I once seen a video of a guy rolling barrels on a glass table to demonstrate or check the straightness of them. Interesting how common this is.

Over on GTA I was told that the pin holding the cocking lever and sling mount will come out. So I tried and it did, there is one side noticeably larger than the other tap on the smaller and out it will come. So 30 bucks shipped I have a new barrel assembly the cone for the shroud and a new breech seal on the way. Im essently 60 dollars into this gun now so Id say I am still ahead here.

I would think that bending a barrel and then straightening there would be pretty good likelihood of affecting the bore dimensions? On the other hand what do you have to loose.
