I have the C02 version. I use it for shooting mice/rats inside. I've shot starlings and pigeons at about 50-60ft. The front sight does come off, but it supports the barrel. There was a guy making a derling replacement for the 1077. The idea was it would hold the barrel in the same place as it floats inside that I guess you call it a shroud..... If you take off the sight you need to replace it with something. I just ran some electrical tape around the barrel to take up the slack, but you need to take the gun apart.
I use mine inside basements and shops/Barnes to catch them little jerks on the run.
