Benjamin Recharge

I have had one for nearly a year, which I used a lot at first but now only occasionally. Has never given me any problems at all.

As this is but another China built compressor, you can get good ones and bad ones. But at least the 1 year warranty is provided by a good company. I would guess that you would have to pay for return shipping in the case of a warranty repair issue (but I'm not certain as I have never needed to).

The ReCharge is a pretty quick direct gun filler, and even tops off big bottles in a reasonable time. I mostly use it to fill guns directly so mine doesn't get a real hard work out. But I've topped off bottles up to 6.8 liters with it too.

It is actually more compact and 'portable' than many compressors of similar volume/speed. While it is a little heavy, it is not as heavy and bulky as others and is pretty easy to transport if needed.

Cooling system seems to work well, but I still monitor mine if I am filling a big bottle and will shut it down and let it cool before re-starting, if necessary. I try to baby all of my compressors for longest service life.

Oil changes are easy, but any other internal maintenance or inspection is a bit of a PITA due to the 'pretty' outer casing. Requires a whole bunch of screws to be removed to get into it. But isn't required all that often, just for inspection/leak checks at fittings, replacing the internal cotton filter, etc.

I paid less for mine - under $1,400 - through OpticsPlanet. When I was looking they had them in stock and for the best price. I've heard various opinions of OpticsPlanet and this was my only purchase from them, and it was fine.

Can't tell you whether something else is better for the same money. You would think that for $1,500 - $2,000 one would be more guaranteed of a long life, reliable product, but this just doesn't seem to be the case with HPA compressors, probably mostly due to their country of origin. But I do not regret my ReCharge purchase.

Hope this helps.

I've got 3 hours on mine, two of which were from filling a 45 minute scba and a 60 inute as well, both from empty. The 45 took 2, 30 minute runs with a 20 minute cool off in between, the 60 a slight bit longer. I know my max temperatures were high, about 78c, but on both tanks this occurred at about 4000psi, then dipped back to 73 all the way to 4500psi. I know heat is the kryptonite of these sorts of compressors, but this on turns off automatically at 90c, so I'll just keep on keeping on. And, I just ordered an Alkin for Father's day, so...

You are correct.
