Benjamin NPS

I like the NP guns from Crosman/Benjamin. Step one: clean the barrel! Every Crosman/Benji I've put my hands on had a FILTHY barrel from the factory. Also, pay careful attention to how it feels as you cock it.. My first one had a damaged tab on the cocking "shoe" (part of the cocking arm that actually engages/catches the piston) that was digging into the nitro piston body, and felt extremely gritty every time I cocked it. As I shot it, it just got "crunchier" (I didn't know better at the time). I bought a Chrony, and took it apart when I found it was only hitting 700-ish FPS with 7.9gr pellets. The inside was full of aluminum grit and shavings, from the damaged shoe cutting into the piston body. A quick rebuild (clean out, hone, new seal, and some massaging/welding on the shoe) and that guy was cranking them out closer to 920FPS. Enjoy your new gun, and best of luck!

I own the .22 version equipped with an inexpensive 3 X 9 AO scope, red laser and light combo. Like Mentolio stated, I had to clean the barrel before starting the chrono work. I have mine sighted in for twenty-five yards where it regularly prints into a one inch target. The trigger was one of the worst that I had ever encountered! Replacement with a GTX solved that issue and allows me to concentrate on the "kill zone" instead of waiting for my beard to grow while stroking the trigger. This is my night time set up used for short range pest control It likes the CPHP 14.3 gr pellet and generates 22.89 FPE at the muzzle. I'll be looking forward to your updates as you get your rifle broken in!
