Benjamin Maximus or Gamo Urban

Real quick I owned an urban for a day (long story) and have shot the Maximus. I'm looking for a lightweight beater to take out and pest/plink that's light and pump friendly. I know all about both rifles but I found a great deal and can get either for almost the same price so I just want to hear real quick on what you would choose. Obviously the urban has a magazine and that's irrelevant to me, I'm most concerned about shot count not power or magazines. Which would be the better choice, ready...Go!

I'm partial to the Urban just as a heads up.

If you’re partial to the Urban... there’s your answer. Urban was my first, still in the safe, she suits for what you described. A simple, reliable beater, that’s pump friendly. At my typical pesting ranges the Urban gives nothing up in relation to my Compatto or Bantam Sniper. It’s just less refined, but kills them just as good as the other two.

@L.Leon I agree it's great. I plan to have something I can finally get my feet wet with when it comes to tearing them apart as well. I've owned several PCPs but have always been to scared to mess with them even a simple seal replacement so I'm also factoring in maintenance and any work I will do myself. Thanks for the input! I also have a link posted to WTB just to see if anyone beats my deals so there's that too lol .

My SIL got a Beeman Chief, I got a Maximus. They are comparable for the most part, but as arrived, the Beeman has a better trigger, and has been a laser with JSB 15.89 and 18 gr pellets. We have been shooting targets 30-55 yds, and as time passed the targets shrunk to keep up the challenge. Shooting at 1.5 inch targets at 50 yds with ~$150 pcps is fun.

Urban all the way, just tuned mine to 30 fpe and have it set up for coons. When I want up to 30 shots I'll tune it down to 17fpe it's really a far superior weapon. That being said I'm buying a maximus for hunting squirrels and such due to its super light wieght and bulletproof design. I plan on beating it up and taking it everywhere to use with cph. I believe it comes with open sights too which is perfect for me. Qb chief is another I've looked at.

Don't know the Urban but have a Maximus that I like very much.

Points well, shoots well and light enough to drag around with me when I am out working on the property. Like that I don't have to worry about the synthetic stock.

Topped it off with a little 4x32 scope, added a sling, did the trigger mod and put a HuMa regulator into it just so I wouldn't have to watch the fill pressure.

The light weight makes the Maximus a great little gun for carrying around in the bush but I prefer a bit more weight for target shooting so I plan to make a wood stock for in the near future.
