Benjamin Marauder "NEW" .22 cal magazines ..... Really ?

Magazine new & improved ... Really
huh.gif

What a azz backward thing .. no longer do you just rotate cassette to the end stop and drop threw the first pellet then back turn the cover to load.

NOW you can no longer drop threw the first pellet easy peezy ... BUT NEED TO LOAD IT INTO A BLIND HOLE "BACKWARDS" from the barrel side of mag !!!

What a PITA !!! and different from the other 8 marauder mags already owned & knowing eyes closed how to load them easy peezy.

just an FYI ....

Geeze crosman ... Really

COPIED FX-HATSAN THIS TIME AND NOT WANTING TO STICK WITH THEOBEN-RAW?

MUST BE PROBABLY DUE TO CHEAPER TO MANUFACTURE OR MORE RELIABLILTY FOR SEMIAUTO INDEXING COMPARED TO THE ORIGINAL MARAUDER-FORTITUDE-GAUNTLET- NOVA VISTA FREEDOM-LIBERTY- SENECA ASPEN-AVENGER MAGAZINES PROBABLY KINDA SLOPPY FOR SEMIAUTOS BUT OK FOR MANUAL REPEATERS.

I saw they made a new magazine for the semi-auto soon coming out and it can be used in the bolt action guns but the regular marauder mag will not werq in the semi-auto. I would expect they are still making the regular Marauder mags as there is no reason to change them. That is unless they want reduced sales and complaints from the masses.

Well that stinks! I bought a handful with a Fortitude I purchased and by the time I got around to trying them all one is "spring dead", unhooked, unwound, something! Besides that I like them way better than my Hatsans or SPAs. Hope some aftermarket ones are still available in that original configuration? Haven't tried the CARMs yet but ready to order some for PP750..

Yeah not sure why specifically but they've been saying the semi-auto needs that style.

UPDATE ..... It can be fixed with a file or dremel !!!

Spending a few minuets with an original and the "New" appears the only thing changed that matters & subject of thread is the CLEAR COVER.
Using round fine cut file ( Such as chainsaw chain files ) or carefully with a dremel you only need Smile / Elongate the hole to original specs.
* the clocking pin and cassette are not changed and doing so the mag works just like the original !!!

Fuzzygrub posted that there not getting rid of the old style ones. But there was a mistake and the new ones meant for the new SAM were packaged in the original style packages hence the mix-up.

Yes, one of crosman's engineers posted in the original thread this AM. No need to panic.

The Mags with the single hole are for the new SAM. We did not change the Mrod mags to this new cover and have both in stock. It looks like some SAM mags were packed in Mrod packs. From my testing the new mags work great in the bolt gun.

John just posted in the other thread some additional info on "why?". Thought it would help understanding here:

The mag housing only had some slight modifications to help with loading consistency. The spring tension holes are still there. The SAM spring is just a little stronger/ stiffer.

In early development the SAM would blow pellets backwards out of the mag. Changing the cover helped mitigate that. Other changes to the system also helped reduce that issue. It occasionally still happened so we kept the new cover design. It also gives people a (what we thought would be) a visual indicator as to what mag you are using.

OK I understood the stronger spring but if the pellets were getting blown back out of the elongated hole in the magazine I see now why they would eliminate that. Good to know. Thanks

The maruader style magazine at least in .22 caliber is pretty sloppy. One of the main problems is that the cogs are not long enough and the next pellet rides on the side of the probe. The stko channel on you tube has a few videos on the subject. I say maruader style because neither he nor I are using a maruader. I have a liberty, he has a avenger. Personally I am waiting for Carm to produce their new 14 shot magazine he tested on his channel. It seems to be a superior design. If you shoot pellets only, Carm's 10 shot magazine in current production is definitely superior.
