BENJAMIN MARAUDER HAMMER FIX......

hello fellas, I'm new here, and new to pcp air guns. I got a marauder, and it was not to long before it was very hard to pull the bolt handle to load a pellet. I decited to take a look, and found a binding of the hammer in the tube......it is a very sloppy fit, and when cocking, it was binding. I drilled two .160 dia. holes and made acetel plugs. and they act to take up the slop of the hammer, and it glides so very nicely now....very smooth. peace, randy.

Great suggestion for those who don't want to spend $70 for an MDS hammer. The hammers are not as hard to drill as many would have you to believe. You can make it even better by drilling the top side on the front of hammer. With the bolt cocking from the rear the stock hammer has a tendency to dig down in the back and raise up in the front. Putting pins in both spots does wonders.

I did my MRod last year. It was a .177 shooting 21fpe and you could easily cock it with a picky.

the hammer has a very hard case hardness to it. I had to use a carbide drill to get thru. I don't think I would like to try to tap....the plugs I made are gorilla glued in. I was gonna do the front, and figured when ya pull back, it kinds of just glides back, from the way it pivots. the pins protrude .010 in. thank you for your imput big. peace, randy.
