Benjamin marauder Gen.2 reviews

Hello again! Was hoping to get some more thoughts, insights, Opinions , reviews on the

Benjamin marauder .22 cal. It seems to have been out for a while but all the videos are really old! I’m Assuming that it’s a good working accurate dead on gun easy to modify and everyone is having so much fun shooting it They just forgot about reviewing it lol . I’m about ready to pull the trigger but one last thing I noticed that it’s not regulated to me that just sounds like shot count ? I’m interested in the first 3 to 5 shots to be good on in a hunting situation is that what the regulator is all about is it something I can add later ?thanks guys and girls.

There is so much info on this gun , what it can do stock vs modded. Probably why you don’t see any reviews anymore. The gun is still the same gun it was years ago out of the box.

The gun is not regulated unless you get the Field and target version, which is lacking in the power department.

Even not regulated you are looking at way more than 3-5 good shots. When I had my .25 cal marauder it was 16 good shots for hunting out to 60 yards. Then I did some mods and got it to 40 good shots.

the .22 should net you at least 30 good shots out of the box. But honestly if you are wanting to hunt and only care about 3-5 good shots then get then .25.

Yes you could always add a regulator later on.

To clarify , a regulator doesn’t give you more shots, it gives you more consistent FPS per shot.

if you end up dropping $500 on a marauder, $100 for a regulator, possibly $150-300 on other mods to make it more efficient, then might as well look at the FX dreamline or streamline for $999.

But again if you only need a few shots , then out of box marauder will do just fine.

.22 custom shop with reg is good for low power, but if he ever is looking for more stopping power it will be much harder to achieve. Would have to disassemble gun and crank the reg up. Even then the plenum is small making it even harder to get more power.

he could always turned down the hammer spring on the .25 to 30fpe or 35fpe. get more shots and more power than the .22.

as far as pellets are concerned JSB Kings and predator polymags are pretty much all you need.

it all depends the type of game and distance He will be shooting.

Out of a lot of air guns, I have loved almost every Marauder I had. Personally I now only have one Gen 2 .22 and it shoots well, even lighter slugs.
My favorite one was the Greg Davis tuned .22 he charged $195 to machine a 23.75” LW barrel. I had his reservoir extension & longer shroud. That gun could shoot just about as well as guns I had costing almost $4K. It didn’t get near as many shots or no where as nice fit, finish, balance, feel, trigger not far behind at all.
I currently picked up a brand new one for $125.00 someone returned it thinking it was missing a bolt in the back (where you adjust preload & HS throw length, lol. I even told them it’s supposed to be like that) & no magazine included but got mag & single shot tray. I’m never going to sell it. I might get a 23.83” LW blank & have buddy turn it. I’d do that before I ever bought a F&T model. JMHO.

I’ve heard there are internal differences in Gen 2. Only thing mine had different is a rubber bedding block that supports reservoir right before sling stud. Stock is definitely blow molded to hold it there. I love them.
