I was considering picking a JSAR Raptor Mini (22cal) for use in NRL22, not the Benjamin Marauder as previously titled.

I'd go with a larger caliber only because if you can see where you missed in the dirt you can make corrections easier. Heavier weight pellets will provide a larger splat on the steel which you might be able to see better and a more noticeable dust signature in the dirt.

Reading your post, I started looking at 25 or 30 cal options... 22cal pellets I have, but maybe I could trade up for some heavier pellets. Thanks for the presenting the option.

Oh another thing that happened to me during a NRL22 match is we had paper targets at 75Y. Granted my eyes aren't the best but I was using a very expensive scope set at it's highest magnification which was 20x. I could not see all the 22 cal holes in the target, the ones that landed in the darker part of the bull disappeared so I didn't know how to correct to center. IIRC I got 2nd that day and this problem was partly to blame.
I can't say for sure but I think I could have seen 25 or 30 cal holes. I've since put a 5-25x scope on my rifle which has helped.

Since slugs are not allowed, I figure that a LW barrel in 25 would be the tube of choice. If the 25cal pellet (34gr JSB) were pushed to around 940fps (if possible), generating 76.5ft lbs of energy...I would think this would keep me in the running for the long distance, say 100 yards and beyond shot.
