benjamin marauder .25 accuracy...better scope?

this is 8 shots @10 yards, indoor with jsb 25.39 pellets. it is from my homemade bench and rest. the group is one ragged hole about the size of a dime. I have a cheap scope that came bundled with gun. my question is if I got a better scope, could I expect better results?. all new with this airgun hobby. thx, randy.

Any improvement in accuracy that you make will be far more evident at greater range (25 + yards) than 10 yards. I wouldn't invest any more money or time until it warms up and you can move outside and open the range out to at least 25 yards. Then your improvements will be far more evident. At only 10 yards you would have to measure any improvements with a micrometer. At 25 yards your improvements will be plain as day.

Here are some unorganized ramblings. If it is a Gen 2 it has a Green Mountain barrel. They are good barrels. Mine for example, will do 1/2 inch groups at 30 yards. If I do my part. I have a mid-range scope on it. It prefers the JSB 25.4 grain pellets. With a 3000 lb charge I get 19 good shots. You didn't mention the brand of scope you have. Over the winter you can save your pennies and then get a better scope to be determined by what type of shooting you want to do with it. Cleaning every 300 to 500 shots seems too often. You dontneed to clean it until, and if, the accuracy goes off. You can practice standing shots at 10 yards. I want to try the Air Arms 25.4 pellets since they work better then the JSBs in my Panther. Above all, shoot it.

yea it is a gen 2. the scope is called a center point 4-16. it seems to be not very good, the aim lines are not even square to each other. 90 degrees to another if you know what I mean. I did line up the vertical line strait up and down, and the horizonal one is cock-eyed. I figured the vertical one being lined looked better. like I said the scope looks to be very cheaply made. randy.

Just so it doesn't confuse anybody who may read your statement. Every .25 Mrod regardless of gen1 or gen2 has the same barrel. They have always been "green mountain".

"triggertreat"With my .25 Synrod, I am able to cover most all of my 50 yard 5-shot groups with a dime or nickel using the 33.95 JSB MKIIs averaging 861 FPS. You should be able to do something similar I would think. However, my gun is modified and regulated so IDK. 24 shots at 56 FPE within a 2% ES.
You must have been thanking of the .22cal Gen 1 barrels. They are crap, had to change mind out. Now it will shoot with my Wild Cat .25 cal, but neither will shoot as good as the .25 Crown
