Benjamin 392 new owner

hello,

Just a few questions to drop on the experts.

I just got it off amazon for $179 (shoulda bought a older gun [silver streak] for cheaper?)

anywho, is the williams peep sight worth a damn? also which one do i buy? people are complaining in the comments that it doesnt fit their benjamin 392 when it says its made for it...

or should I just go pistol scope? - best one?

Is there a best bipod for this?
also, is there a place to get a rubber butt? shoulder strap? trigger?

thx!!

AOA has a 'supersear' that is said to improve the trigger, Baker Airguns has an awesome scope mount-https://www.bakerairguns.com/product/one-piece-scope-mount-benjamin-397-392-air-rifles/ I they're out of stock, Mac 1 airguns has a mount that will work for more forward 'scout' style with a pistol scope or rear mount conventional style. I have the one Baker sells and it works great. If your gun doesn't group well, check for paint overspray in the barrel crown.

I received my Benjamin 392 today. I had obtained a Williams 5D-SH peep sight (same sight, it seems, that Pyramid refers to as the Air Venturi Williams 64) in advance, so mounted that peep on the 392 right away. The mount holes pre-drilled in the rifle's breech block matched up great with the Williams sight... BUT, the final check showed that the pre-drilled holes were not drilled perpendicular to the vertical axis of the rifle. As a result, when viewed from behind as normal for shooting, the peep sight itself is canted 1/2 to 3/4" to the right of the barrel's center line! No amount of windage adjustment can overcome that kind of defect. I double checked everything: made sure I hadn't installed the sight with misaligned screws, made sure the upper arm of the sight was properly seated in the attachment on the breech block, and confirmed the pre-drilled attachment point on the block was true to the gun's vertical axis. Then it became clear that the drilled holes themselves were tilted upwards as they penetrated the breech block. I've emailed Crosman detailing the apparent defect and await a reply. Has anyone else run into, or heard about, this kind of problem with the Benji 392s and Williams peep sights?

I bought one about a year ago from Academy. Great price $140 free shipping. Bought the William sight from Amazon. The sight did me no good, either the sight was bad, or more likely the barrel was too off center. Then a few weeks later, the darn thing stopped shooting. I had noticed it was becoming incrementally harder to pump. Long story short, I returned it. It seems that each time I shot it, the air tube would keep a little air in it and a little more with the next shot and so on until the hammer could not overcome the pressure. Being extremely new to the sport, I did not want to fiddle with it and bought a Gamo Accushot underlever from PA. It is not the best gun, but I have learned a LOT shooting it. It also shoots pretty accurately when you learn it and find the pellets it likes. If you want the William sight, I can see if I find it and give you a good price on it.

Edit: Just saw ironlion269 post. That must have been the same problem I had. Could never get the windage right.

I see some references to the use of a pistol sight - I am thinking of a 2-7 power pistol/sniper sight for my 397. Has anyone done this with good results?

I purchased different sized apertures for my Williams sights.... Dusk/Dawn. Hunting, Target etc. I think it was worthwhile. Small aperture for
bright days and target shooting. I purchased them on-line but can't recall where. Cost was +- $10 each. Gets more cost-effective if you have
more than one gun with the Williams sights.
