In this time of shortages and difficulties finding ammunition, I'm seeing Benjamin .25 caliber pellets in local stores. Has anyone used them, and what kind of results did you get? I bought a couple tins, washed and lubed, and weighed. I will say, that other than a couple clipped skirts, the spread is tighter than JSB with a bit over 3% compared to JSB's well over 4%. spread.
Any opinions on the 25 cal pellets?

August 6, 2021 at 10:06 pm LinkI shot them with pretty good accuracy in one of the ART test barrels but noticed that when i pushed them through the bore, some had no marks on one side of the head…. not round. I suppose that you could roll these and see which weren't round. Every since the Premiers were introduced in the 90s, I've considered the design a great one…. if only they had the quality control …

August 6, 2021 at 11:43 pm Linkhmmmm….. sounds like maybe I need to do the roll test. That'd be interesting. I was a little surprised to see 1 or 2 out of each tin with skirts that were obviously clipped by some machine. Big half moon gone out of the base. They are an experiment for me, so we'll see how it works.

August 7, 2021 at 10:58 am LinkWhen I owned a Hatsan BT65 in .25 cal. I used them. They worked great in that particular gun. Not so much in my .25 Royale (Original Smooth Twist barrel). HARD alloy mixture in those pellets that doesn't lend itself to the Smooth Twist barrels.

I have similar experience with Benji Domes 28gr'ers…lights out with my TalonP. Bought a bunch last year when 9$/tin (now they 20$/tin same vendor). Not much experience with them in my LW/Poly, might give a try again, digging into stash. I do recall them being really clean out of the tin, stout, no skirt damage (edit: correct, but for a few as mentioned above).

interesting. Once I get a chance to get to the range, I'll give them a try. Right now, smoke to heavy to breath out there let alone see the targets. Never seen smoke so bad.
My .25's are filthy. I wonder if there was a different swaging process or something. I washed and lubed them and my hands still turn black when I handle them. I have a bunch of hollow points in .25 that once you wash and lube, are pretty clean. Just need that smoke to clear and a bit of time to get out and give them a try.

Same here, washed and lubed, and fingers still get grey smudge. Softer pellet perhaps? But did notice very little frass and bits in the bottom of the wash tray. At about 870 FPS in a TalonP was doing inch-ish groups at 30 YD. Groups did open up quite a bit at 50YD. Faster is better with this pellet, didn't do so well at lower speeds. Tight fit in the breech as well…head sizes like 6.4x mm.

If you can get them, or have a stash, I agree.
