Benchrest Scopes school me please.

I am getting a RAW HM-1000X in .25 cal and would like a nice scope what am I looking for? I would be using it benched most of the time. I might try my hand in some BR competition at some point. I don't have an unlimited budget but would probably spend up to $600 less would be better if there is something out there for less max distance 100 yards most of the time in fact my home range 30 & 60 yards is where I plink.

My current scope I have been using is an older Weaver 4-16 and I have an B&L elite 3200 4-12 I can use either of these until I get something else but I am on a wait to get the gun for at least 10 weeks.

Thanks Mike

I have the same gun coming. Should be here mid August I hope. I will be using mine for mostly bench rest also but some other uses too. I'm planing on getting a Falcon 5.5-25x50 ffp with the illuminated B20 reticle. Its about $530. Focuses down to 10 yards and has a very fine center cross hair on the reticle. Should be a good compromise between BR and pesting.

Congrats on getting a fine gun! Please post a review when you get it. I will do the same.

I own a number of scopes. Hawke Sidewinders, Vipers, and others in the sub-$500 price range. They are all good scopes, but for my new HM1000, I chose to use a Mueller 6-32X44 target dot scope. Since I will only be using it for Benchrest, then the mil-dot and other reticles aren't necessary. This scope has a fine reticle and surprisingly clear glass. It lists for $249 on Optics Planet and if you wait around for a 10% off coupon, it's cheaper. I'm a semi-scope snob, but this one works well for me for this application.
