Barrel liner indexing

I have a question for you guys who have indexed their barrel liners.

What Dia is the spread variation at 30 yards you guys are getting?

The reason I ask, I did mine today and it was repeatable each time I did it was a oval 7”high, 6” wide, does this seem excessive to you? I does to me. To confirm my results I did it both with moderator on and off, POI change was negligible (2-3 clicks)

Mine was 4” diameter at 30 yards.

Didn't do with stx barrel but in my .22 BSA barrel the circle at 24 yards was about 8" dia while with .25 BSA barrel it was only around 4".

Indexing question...shroud on or off when doing the test? I assume on.

I took my shroud off and replaced it with a moderator, lighter, quieter and shorter but in answer to your question, I did the initial indexing with it off, once I found the top poi I fitted the mod to see if there was any difference, there wasn’t.

Yeah that is pretty close to my experiences, I’ve done it with 5 or 6, but only at 19 yds and about a 4” circle was the result, the 700mm are larger diameter than 500mm when I have done them, great way to get some moa if your needing it with your scope and rings setup.
