Barrel cleaning solvents

I'm new to the world of PCP airguns and have a question about using centerfire solvents on my CZ barreled PCP airgun. On my precision centerfire weapons I used Hoppe's 9 and then lightly coat the barrel with Remington gun oil using a patch. Is that a good option for airguns or is the hoppe's 9 too harsh? I'd also love to hear what other people on the forum are usually.

Hi JC. Welcome! Air guns do not have combustion byproducts such as carbon fouling like powder burners do so harsh solvents aren't needed. Mostly just a few dry patches when you notice accuracy declining. Its a good idea to clean a new barrel thoroughly to remove any protective coating the factory may have used. You can use a solvent for that. Some times I wet a patch or two with Ballistol then a few dry ones.

I've been using it for about a year. I learned about it from watching a YouTube video from "RolaidsBench" Roland also made one of my night vision setups which was custom. I have had zero build up and just a spritz in the can and they are good to go.
Here is the link to his channel. You can find the video somewhere in there :)

I also use ballistol. Sometimes just need dry patches, but for the real dirty bores, maybe 1-2 patches with ballistol then dry patches till clean. I use anything from ballistol, silicone spray, to rem oil for the exterior. I handle all of my guns weekly, so they get wiped down alot. If I left guns untouched for extended periods, I would probably run a patch of ballistol down the bore and kroil for the exterior.

"pheelgood"I'll second .30cal, except I use Prolix both to wipe my barrel and lube my pellets.
I agree. 3 - 5 patches of Prolix and your barrel will be close to spotless. I use 2 or 3 dry patches after the Prolix patches. It takes my guns about 20 un-lubed pellets for accuracy to come back after the barrels are treated with Prolix.
