Barrel cleaning on my cricket .22

Mr Glem ... I bought a Napier pull through about 2 year ago and it broke the first time I tried to pull it through my hammer forged barrel on my Marauder. I suspect that I got the luck of the draw and was shipped a p.o.s from AoA but I liked the design and got a Crown Saver. I seriously don't believe that you could pull hard enough to cause any damage to a Crown Saver. It has been worth it's weight on gold ever since I got it.. I also use Ballistol to clean the barrels when necessary .... which isn't too often because I use Ballistol as a lube for my pellets. It seems to keep the barrel a little cleaner as it keeps the leading to a minimum and when I DO clean the barrel I just use a dry patch because the barrel is already lined with Ballistol.

I got a Crown Saver from Charlie @ GA when I bought my Cricket. Love it.

First remove your shroud , then cock your mini and push your crown saver thru the muzzle end and out the breach end then put 3 to 4 patches in the crown saver ( I like them to fit the barrel very tight) put your palm of one hand over the end of the air tube then pull the patches thru the barrel , it should take some effort , then change patches and repeat till they come out clean. Reinstall your shroud and apply a very small amount of silicone grease to the orings in the shroud first and some on a q-tip and apply to probe or to breach oring , if you put a thin film on the probe you can just cycle the cocking leaver a few times to get the lube on the breach oring.

I llike to use dry patches. I only use ballistol for cleaner and lube about once a year or so , mainly dry patches.
Just my opinion , thats the way I do it.

I use a Bore Snake with the brass brush removed (you have to remove the brush or it will ruin internal "o" rings.)

If you can't get the brass weight through the breech, cut it off, put a know in the end and use trimmer line pushed through from the muzzle to pull the string through the breech and up the barrel.

Just pull it through a couple times and you are done.

If you want to use cleaners, the bore snakes are still excellent choices.

Yes the shroud does tension the barrel on the mini witch is a poor design , in my opinion much like Marauder it is very hard to get it exactly the same after removal , that is why I remove the plastic washer from between it and the breach block as that allows the shroud to tighten down without touching anything and allows it to free float.
The Cricket BP didn't use this design , neither does the later styled Vulcans.
I left my washer in place for awhile but every time that I went outside to shoot from bringing my gun from inside to outside the POI would shift because of the temperature change. Now if I bump the shroud or remove it for cleaning I just snug it back down and all is good and no POI changes with temperature changes.
I know Charlie Frear likes the tensioned barrel on the mini , but not for me.
After you clean your barrel allow a few shots to reseason the barrel and your POI will settle in.
