Will a crossman 2240 pistol be anuff for coons at short distances or not I have better just curious I do want to hop it up eventually and put a reflex and moderator on it for close squriells
I have one of those. Might be a bit light for that work unless you are using it to dispatch them and they are in a trap or something similar. That is only about a 4 or so fpe pistol AND in cold weather it won't shoot as hard because the CO2 guns work best in warm weather."bigplow"Will a crossman 2240 pistol be anuff for coons at short distances or not I have better just curious I do want to hop it up eventually and put a reflex and moderator on it for close squriells
that's why I asked here first I didn't know what the power was on this pistol I do really want to use the p rod I might even add some power to it when I can afford to do so coon season is coming up and I will be trapping out in the woods at a friends so I know how that works"Jonnes"Please don't use a low power CO2 pistol for hunting. Chances are you'll just injure the animal resulting in unnecessary suffering. These things shoot at around 9 ft/lbs from the MUZZLE! At 20 yards the kinetic energy is almost half that. Racoons are pretty tough animals, if you're going to hunt them, use something more powerful for heaven's sake!
X27I am curious as to what you built?"ajshoots" I have since built a .25cal pistol.
OK, so Wikipedia says 20 lbs. max and the record is 75 lbs. Doesn't it stand to reason then, that a well-fed suburban racoon who has been eating human garbage could be 40 lbs.? Or maybe that 20 lbs. is a typical mature wild adult size, rather than a maximum?"oldspook"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raccoon 20 pounds.
There was one domesticated that did grow to 75 pounds (world record) but that is what happens when people over feed their pets and said pets have a thyroid problem.
You are absolutely right, Wikipedia is just another source of knowledge, kind of like you except they have some authority."Smaug"

If you had given it some thought or done more than a 5 second Google search before using that as a reason to give me negative accuracy, it would have been nice.
Wikipedia is not the be-all, end-all source of knowledge.
Jeeze... How do you reply to this?"Smaug"Re. "Reality Ranch" Did you even bother to look at the links I've posted?
Yes, I'm upset when someone gives me a negative, especially when it's the same guy every time, (you) and especially when it is unwarranted, as I've proved above.
