Ballistol for pellets?

Hello,

I am sure somebody has asked this before but I can not find it. Can Ballistol be safely used as a pellet lube in a high power PCP. I have used silicon based lube but just ran out and was thinking of trying some ballistol. The only info on the can states that it is made from white mineral oil. Does Ballistol have a high flashpoint?

Thank you,

Jim

Most if not all instances a crappy barrels bore will yield better results with a good cleaning and bore lapping than trying to use a crutch such as a lubricant.

In velocities UNDER 850-900 using soft pure lead projectiles requires ZERO lubrication has been my findings. hardened leads purpose done by self casters or those pellets made harder ( H&N for instance ) will get away with being shot faster w/o fouling as badly a pure lead ... tho surprising, show greater fouling over pure lead at lower velocity in general.

EDUCATE yourself .... the web has so much misinformation !!!

Im pushing slugs at basically 1000fps. The pledge didnt gain any accuracy whatsoever, but I put 400 slugs through it this past 4 days and atleast 200 pellets and accuracy hasnt changed at all. Before using it I would start getting some wild fliers after about 50 slugs. Switching between pellets and slugs made it 10x worse. With that said this barrel is still “ new” for an airgun. Im going to continue to use it, doesnt hurt anything from what I can tell. Like motorhead said though keep them at the slower speeds and probably no worries.

I recently started using it. I have a rifle that shoots the crosman 10.5 grn domes stupid accurate but there was enough flakes in the tin to make 3 more pellets. So I started cleaning and then lubing the pellets and no detriment to accuracy in any gun of mine and have the comfort knowing all that crap isn't going down the barrel. So for me, I will keep doing it going forward with all pellets.
