Ballistol By Any Other Name...

Do you remember the first time you used Ballistol? I do and my first thought was "man this stuff stinks!". Like a dead carp under a chicken coop on a hot day stink. I've gradually become more and more tolerant and now I actually kinda like it. Oh, not to the point of putting a drop behind each ear (Use Hoppes #9 for that) but gun cleaning is no longer the barf bag ordeal that it once was. Uj

I heartily applaud your use of Hoppe's #9. I grew up on that smell. Nothing cuts black powder crud like ole' Hoppe's. The EPA, bless their little hearts, removed the part that gave that kinda banana finish, but it still brings back fond memories of days at the range with my Grandad.

Ballistol works OK and is more environmentally friendly, but it's smell does nothing for me.
