Bag Rider for the FX Impact

I developed this as I was struggling with getting the FX Impact to ride the bags nicely. It works very well. I wonder if there would be any interest in this type of thing...

So I am not an Impact owner, and I don't mean to offer insult, however that big machined billet looks awfully heavy. I don't know what sorts of production capabilities you have on hand, however skeletonized and machined from delrin or something else light weight might be preferable. Personally I'd 3D print it from 20% carbon fiber reinforced nylon or polycarbonate to keep it light while offering the footprint you want/need.

I hope that is at least vaguely useful feedback, coming from a guy who knows basically nothing about the project. :)

That is accurate and appreciated feedback. It is heavy and I was just posting the concept. I plan to skeletonise it with slots that fit in with the Impact stock. Delrin is also heavy so that does not solve the problem in a big way. But I can assure you there is lots to be done to improve aesthetics and weight.

As someone who also likes to do these types of things I think you did pretty damn good! Looks awesome!

Being made from aluminum the tooling paths looks really good and gives it a eye appealing appearance.

Now if you slot it its gonna look ever better!

I'm glad you made it know the delrin is not lightweight. Aluminum is probably better. I think that black delrin has more weight to it than aluminum. 100% on that

Now if you made from a 3d printer it would only look about 1/4 as good. I've never seen a 3d print that beats the looks of a quality peice of machines material .

Plus I know I would be much more satisfied making something with my hands then doing a bunch of math on a computer and just wait for said product to be done.

Like I say good job!

Thanks DeadEye - I will post the finished product once I have got the lightweight design completed.

Weight could be an asset to bench shooting. I would like to see something to extend the length of pull on the butt of the stock as im a little tall for the factory LOP. Maybe 2 inches more.

I'm not so sure I wouldn't want the heavier piece for bench shooting. I'd still have the original for hunting.

In fact I know I would prefer the heavier one. How much are you thinking the piece as is will be selling for??

I do not know what is a fair price. It is quite a bit of work. I was thinking $119. I really wanted to try be under $100 but the costs are a little high. Feedback is welcome.

Here is what I think is my final prototype. I will make some up from this. Weighs a lot less. Slips in and out easily and secures with the thumb screw. I will hard-anodize black. It works great for me.

I will add a removable post at the bottom so that one can do away with the sand bag if one wishes. The height will be adjustable and secure with a thumb screw as well.

Feedback is welcome

I had some ideas for your project:

-You could make it in different pull lengths (long armed shooters will appreciate that)

-add a adjustable foot that screwed in the bottom, great for use with a bipod in the field or shooting off the bench

-add a place to mount a rear strap for a sling, weather it be a threaded hole or a slot for the strap

-cut your fillet to the shape of finger grips

-ditch the standard round shoulder curve, makeing it flat excepting standard adjustable butt pad

-Or make the but pad with adjustable wings to have cradling your shoulder

I love your Idea, it looks like a money train. The Fx is probably the single most popular high end PCP out there
