Bad results with new FX 700 mm barrel

Anyone able to get any good groups with the new .25 cal 700 mm barrel on the Impact? Have shot NSA, JSB and Hunter Supply out of my new barrel and not liking the results. The groups I get are comparable to my Royale 500 smooth twist or worst. Any feedback?

I have cleaned the barrel twice and varied speed for the JSB ‘s with .75-1.5” groups at 50 yards with “flyers” at all speeds. Very disappointing so far.

Yes I have. MkIi at 847 FPS. Hunter Supply’s around 660-670, NSA 39 gr 778 with 3”+ groups at 50 for that size.

gotta be a new barrel, you may just want to shoot a tin of JSB"S through her,let her settle get some seasoning ,then without cleaning make another test,,it cant hurt ,only help instead of condemning the liner,did you get better results with the 600mm ,have you tried putting back on to see if theres a change ,,HYNZIE

I had but around 500 shot thru the first time before trying to clean and have sent another 500+ with the same results. Never had the 600mm barrel, this is a whole new set-up so not able to compare. Pellets and slugs seem to be unstable, do I need to speed up the fps for the slug to get them going straight?

Is it the X barrel? or just a 700mm ST barrel? If it's still the ST or if its the typical twist and choke on the X platform I wouldn't expect it to shoot slugs well. Have the liners suited for slugs been released yet?

When I purchased this from Utah Airguns, they stated this was the new slug barrel and yes this is the X barrel. How ever when cleaning it did seem to be choked on the end when pulling the cleaning patch through.

Looks like I will need to call UA monday morning and verify that the correct barrel was supplied to me.

Yeah I see, I'm sure they could definitely use more power and maybe it's just a matter of finding the right speed and size of these.

FX has not released their slug liners yet.

I don't believe the twist & choke of the current x barrels lend themselves to shooting slugs. They do however allow you to use a wider variety of pellets.

That’s upsetting that this may not be the slug barrel that I asked specific for. Have wasted a few $’s on trying to get the slugs to work. Thanks for the info Mike on FX not having released those barrels yet. Puts a little faith back into me getting used to just shooting pellets out of this barrel and trying to tighten up those groups. Great group of people on this forum. Thanks to all.

I have notice with my 1 week old barrel; the 50 yd brought quarter groups to a nickel. The real difference kicked in @ 100yds and out. Quarter @ 100yd.33.95 mark2. Many pellet on pellet.
Honestly , there are some wanderers. Our wind has been horrible. I cant give you a 100 rd report. I dont know if its me or the wind or the pellet.I did some 162yd shot w/ 25% hit rate.
i think we all get caught up in the hype. Ive spent a ton w/ this impact. I just can`t shoot well.
mine likes 860 -870 fps. Doesnt like 25g worth a dang.

Try pushing a pellet through the liner with a 3/16 dowel. If you feel tight spots it the barrel other than the last few inches the liner may be defective or damaged.

Guys I am curious about this barrel myself. I do have some slugs 25.4 grains. There are a few pressing issues with the 700mm barrel one could be harmonics being longer and more vibration sensitive. Are you groups going up and down or all over ? Is it a cluster round hole or vertical ? If you want a few test slugs let me know i Might be able to send a few to test your rifles with? I am interested in the barrel but did not want to spend the cash. so if we can talk a little I might be able to send you some slugs if you promise to beta test scientifically . Write me if you are interested ?

I want to try these in the barrel. Best speeds are 750 to 850 ish.

Thought these barrels were supposed to be very accurate? Perhaps you have received a bad Barrel.

I have tuned this gun and barrel and found that a higher FPS tightened my groups greatly. MKII at 886-890 and 60fpe have yielded much better groups than at 840-845 at 50 yards. 1/2” or less compared to 1 1/2-2 1/2”. Going to push these out to 100 and out will post results later.

I wouldn't mind testing some slugs in .30. I'm still a couple weeks out from mine arriving though.

I'm impressed with the one I have. MOA or better at 106 yards. But my ST would almost do that. I also found best group speed around 880. MK-II's. sylvan
