BAD BAD TIMING UPS

I had a similar scare awhile back-

my son wanted to take a pic of our arsenal. One of the guns, a savage 110 BA in 338 Lapua I bought with no one knowing. When I popped it out of its “stash” my son was ecstatic. He asked when did you get that? And of course, the next big question was “does mom know?” Well, the comment of “keep it down, man” with a grin, he knew what that meant. So he takes this picture of the 4 powder burners we own, all laid out on a table, proudly raised by bipods.

That night at a restaurant my son(like all kids today) is scrolling thru his phone, and when he was affixed on one view my wife asked what he was looking at. Well, he shows that pic of all the guns!!! She asked, “what’s that big huge one!?” My son realized what he now did, and stared at me with mouth wide open, from across the table.

i took a swig of my beer and non chalantly said “oh, it’s just one of the pellet guns I’ve had ” and she says oh, ok. I felt my son still staring at me from my peripheral, and right then and there I realized I set a bad example. He watched me just escape from that so calmly, smooth, without a tremble in my reply, as I gulped down another swig from my beer. Little did he know, though, I wanted to beat his a$$ right then and there, cause my heart was a pounding, lol.

That was 8 years ago. He’s 23 now, and into golf. One day he pulled out his clubs and pulled out a driver and I asked him where he got that one, as it looked unfamiliar. He said he treated himself last week to it, at $300. His girlfriend lives with him, and their goals were about getting college out of the way, careers going, money saved, etc, etc.

I asked if he told her about his “treat to himself”, and guess what line pops out of his mouth, non chalantly as he’s pretend swinging on the front lawn? You guessed it-

“Keep it down, man, keep it down”, with the same sneaky grin I had years earlier.

i raised a demon....lol!

Ive always been a firm believer in if there is someone quick to accuse another of something that they feel are up to some sheisty doings, always being suspicious, and micro managing purchases made by you, there’s probably a high chance that they do the same, which would be buying and stashing and saying “oh, I’ve had that a long time. You were with me when I bought it!”

I once worked for an owner whose biggest concern was on fridays(typically pay day),instead of his employees being on the job site from 7-3:30, they probably pulled a nooner and headed off to the bar, and still charged him for 8 hours.

Later on I found out in his younger days, my employer did that same exact thing, leave at noon, go get drunk, and billed for 8 hours of work.

So, look around the house, be more aware. If your lovely wifey is always thinking your up to no good in expenditures, chances are the diamond earrings she’s wearing came about not too long ago, without you knowing, lol.

This goes vice versa also, just so you know I’m not out to say it’s all the wives being bad. My wife works hard, and when she wants something she’ll get it, and it’s never jewelry, a salon trip, chocolates or really anything directly for herself. It’s usually something to spruce up the house. I don’t argue, as I know she deserves it, being around my sorry a$$, lol

I can't believe the number of guys I know that don't have hobbies or a passion for tinkering. They must lead such dull lives.

They are the ones that eat Cheetos and game all day in front of the X-Box, or the ones that are all about work. They don’t work to live, but live to work, lol. Can’t criticize that type, as I used to be that guy in my younger days.

The guy that works, I’m talking about, lol, not the Cheetos guy

Bigragu I bought a table saw for my son awhile back & asked if his wife knew -No just going to say you bought it for me . So I told the wife to kept the story straight, her comment was don't get me involved & by the way just what does he buy you off of AMAZON it goes both ways- GULP

I kind of have a weird working relationship I both work for and am a business partner of the same person on two different ventures I am a personal assistant and we are working on an airgun venture as a partnership

Many times I buy stuff for him and he refunds me the money and he is almost as bad as I am about this extremely addictive hobby there have been a few purchases that I have slipped by my wife that I have let her believe was a purchase for him... It did not take her long to catch on to that trick

Ha ha, that was a good read and a good laugh. More so because I can relate. I also have a package coming UPS next week and it needs an adult signature, and most likely I will be at work. My better half will probably be at home when it arrives. She doesn't know I bought another air rifle, and the last two powder burners I bought, she was suggesting for each gun I brought home, that one of my other ones should be out up for sale. That didn't happen. So next Friday should have some similar conversation at my house lol
