Bad . 25 Condor Day

Swapped out the hole punching hickory nut splitter . 20 to day to the 24" LW . 25. 

POWER WHEEL still on 3 as before. Same 12x SWAF.Orfice swapped from the. 166 to the .232 or what can in it as a . 22. 

JSB 25's over the chrony on a 2700 PSI fill. 1034.JSB 33's 980+- Gave the wheel a move to 4. 33's up to 1002. 

No accuracy with the JSB 33. Was a hit and a miss. 6" pattern or bigger Changed the power up and down and still no luck. Shroud off, some what better but still the barrel does not like that pellet. By now Ive shot 2/3 Tin down the once cleaned barrel. Backed power off and tried the JSB 25'S. ACCURACY came in but the fresh fill did change things till 5 shots.

It did seem with the barrel change the gun got hold sensitive? Having shot this gun in .20 and having Talon ss built to a condor in . 22 I was yet to have any issues till this barrel swap. 

Looked at the baffles and see no indication of clipping? Shroud is for up to .25? This is a New gun but I did during this day of disappointment pull the gun apart change and out the breach o ring to the heavier type. I did notice the hammer had scuff marks on the breech side and some debris in the rear tube? Factory gun other than the ring loc setup and the Talon Tunes shroud. Any one had this issue in. 25. The barrel just does not digest the 33 gr?

The gun in .20 was a beast and accurate. The poi did swing hard to the left from the .20 set up. Not the scope. Even changed the rings to change focal. A waste of time. BKL rings now.

I’d have a real good look at the crown and run a pellet down the bore checking for tight/loose spots . I have heard of a bad barrel even seen a few . Is this a factory barrel or something you had machined to fit ? There was a post recently with pics of a bad barrel with rust pitting . Got to be a reason for it , I had a BT65 that didn’t like pellets over 890 fps . It also had a LW barrel .

Factory barrel. I did not machine one for it. No right spots other than the usual tight LW choke. I did forget that shooting down to 2000 psi the accuracy got better 9n the 33 gr. The 25 gr shoot good groups 9nce I got the scope set and proved itself even at the 2000 psi mark. Crown looks good. I have seen better? I was going to recrown it but 8 have spun down all my . 25 pilots. 

If it's a bad barrel I do not need to work it. 8ve had nothing but great luck with all LW barrels and all the blanks I have used on re barreling but they do have bad barrels in ever line. 

I did light clean the barrel after a refill and the barrel had leaded up I also gave the crown a 1500 hit by hand with my polishing tool. 

Back to the bench in the morning? If no progress calling AF. I have gone over all connections. Nothing loose. I may remove and rotate the barrel collars and see if they could be off? They are in.position. I'm missing something or I have a bad barrel. I thought many were shooting the JSB 33 gr? I did not do my normal pellet lube either. 🤕

Note looks off center looking thru the baffles but looks fine with the shroud off. 

Another thing I did notice after removing the barrel was a bluing removed close to the lease of the barrel? Nothing should be running as you pull the breech back. 

The more I rehash the day the more I remember. I'll just have to reinspect everthing in the morning and also check the . 20 barrel for any rubbing indications.

Looks like I'll have to spin another .25 pilot for my face and crown tool as well. The condor as it is will not shoot even closer to my theibem rapid AZ MKII .25. A 65 FPE GUN that does not miss and dang near shoots on its own. I was really looking forward to the Condor in the .25 power. The Theoben does have the LW barrel also. I'd hate to have to eat this barrel! I've got the . 20/22/25 LW 24"H barrels for the Condor. I work barrels all the time and re working the barrel is no big deal. Just the fact I should not have to. 🤨 It does shoot like a clip issue. Just wonder if anyone has had issues with the shroud. Easy to enlarge the baffles. Like I said tomorrow I'll just redo the gun. It's not the gun because it shoot perfect with the smaller .20. could not ask for a better shooter.

That does suck when things go like that. I had a .25 Condor SS a few years ago and it was a real shooter. I did have some issues with the top hat changing settings as I shot it but after changing it out to a TalonTunes tophat I had no more issues.

I had mine shooting the 33 gr JSB at 940 fps and it was an moa shooter at 100 yards when I did my part. Only sold it to buy a Rapid.

I guess you could have a bad LW barrel but that's not very common. I'm sure you'll get it shooting good with process of elimination.

Removed the shroud and cleaned the barrel again. Tested it again and same dissatisfaction. Now this is Bagged gun on the bench so unless I've lost it there is no way it's me. It's not the SWFA 12X scope or the gun.IMO

I will say on the moderator I do see streks on the baffles and end cap? So I still thinK opening up the mod will not hurt. Talked with Talon Tunes ont and we both agree to open up the baffles if needed. But the barrel is the main issue right now?

I've got a RA# for a barrel replacement. SO I guess I'll wait and see what happens next.

Seems that if it is a baffle issue that replacing the barrel is not going to change anything. Wouldn't doing the baffles first make the most sense?

Shot the gun with no shroud a little to no result in poi. And that is with several different brand pellets. Being I am familiar with the . 25 I'ven had this issue. My Theoben eats almost anything.

Ast the shroud indication this could be several things. Barrel way off center, crown, barrel collar's could be off. 

On a norm many cans can be rotated to center better with bore anf on slip ons c you can tune the poi by sliding the can in and out of rotating it. 

As the fixed Talon Tunes one you can rotate it but you may have to drill another grub set or grind a point on the attachment grub. 

My issue seems to point the barrel? 

As mentioned I have dealt with many LW barrels over the years and Never had A BAD one and that goes with the blanks I have lathed for rebarreling. AF buys so many match grade barrels they get IMO some of the best barrels LW makes. The pricing again IMO are not bad for a match grade fully machined and blued. 

The last H LW blank barrel I bought was around $140 shipped and in white. Then you add your labor to machine the barrel it's hard to not buy an AF fitted barrel with a warranty. No worrying about any error on the machine work or install. JMO

The gun shot the . 20 like a Laser. And yes it should have shot the . 25. I reached out over here due to the fact AGN has pcp fan base. 

My main start was to see if any one had issues shooting the jsb 33gr. But as the topic Ran I disclosed the barrel issue. I reached out for info from the forum members and appreciate all of them. 

I not to proud to reach out even though I am educated on pcp and springers.

My shot sheet looks terrible as I look at it. Bigger than a soft ball groups and the super flyers . Not anything like my norm shooting esp off a bag at 35 yards.

We will know soon when the new barrel arrives. This gun Was purchased to replace my RAW . 20 and it did a Great job . It's not a RAW But I like the power plus accuracy. I have great mkIi . 25 that shoots the light out. I just wanted a multi caliper gun. 

The ring loc set up having the ability to change the air flow made for the caliber tuning was a big plus. 

Thanks all💀 I'm going to after the barrel replacement shoot the gun w/o the shroud. If all pans out try the 14 shroud. I do not have to shroud the gun where I live. But I like the stealth. The shroud is no big issue if needed opened up.
