The BackBone H8PRO is now available for pre-order. Expected shipping in January. Makes it tough for a decision today to buy the Side-Shot GoPro scope cam. BackBone even has their remaining H7PRO units on sale. I assume to clear the superseded tech. I have looked at this from every conceivable angle, and just can't pull the trigger yet. Buying it on sale, then adding the lens, then paying tariffs to import it, then buying the 5/6/7 case mount from Side-Shot, I don't think it will be significantly cheaper than just buying it from Side-Shot as a complete package.
The only major improvement I see that impresses me from the 7 to the 8 is the second generation motion stabilization. But, to get that, you go to a GoPro with a new form factor and battery. So, the current GoPro 5/6/7 Side-Shot case probably won't hold the H8PRO correctly, and it requires a new form factor battery, so HERO 7 batteries won't work in the HERO 8. Decisions, decisions...
