Cheao and perfect are cross sections of large diameter trees. No bounce back and they look kinda nice on your property.

They are very effective because you are shooting END GRAIN.

Have two, a covenantal bullet trap $80 and the design of one of the members here, light and portable. A plaxtic box from HomeDepot witha hinged side and latches filled with rubber mulch. Box $15, mulch $5.

Mine are simple. Outdoors I simply have some stacked logs like this........





Indoors I use an Outers .22 bullet trap..........

Old carpet you get for free from carpet stores who throw away after doing their new carpet installation. Several layers would do and keep things quiet.

Old semi and bus and truck mud flaps throw away from city county and government base yards.

I shoot less than 12 fpe and bought 2 of these a few years ago:

They were cheaper back then ($20) and have lasted outside in the weather so far. I generally just hang my printed targets on a piece of cardboard or a box in front of them.

Free delivery to the house saved me having to haul these heavy things to far.

I use the Outers 22 bullet trap indoors like nced. I tried using duct seal to make it quiet, but it tended to sag and fall off after awhile. I like the idea of trying old carpet or mudflaps as suggested by odoyle. I think that might just work in the bullet trap.

I am using a 3/8 thick 3'x3' piece of plywood with with a double sheet of 26-Gauge Galvanized Metal Sheet attached to the back, it is held up two plywood wings, in front I can put various targets, which i have at the moment in order of less sound, a plastic box filled with rubber mulch, .22 rimfire rated metal pellet trap with ballistic jelly, and a RX target system of flipping paddles. At 36ft/lb a stray pellet went through the plywood and deformed the steel but did not pass through, so it works for me

I use the cardboard box in which my favorite beer is packaged. Fill it with the junk mail catalogs and seal with duct tape. Lasts a good while, is quiet, and gives the junk catalogs a purpose.
