Aztec fundamental turret flaw? and quality issues

My Aztec 5.5-25×50 SFP having the same issue. Lost zero very easily. After so much frustrations, I gave up. I don't think I will ever spend a single $ on Aztec scope ever again. A $400 scope that can't even holds zero like my $100 Bushnell. Support is also very poor.

They are talking about being able to reset the turrets to “zero” the scope itself holds its zero, at least mine does and I shoot at varying distances and magnifications. I have hundreds of kills with mine at ranges from 10 yards to 109 yards, no zero issues at all. Mine is the FFP with IR. Donnie Reed at Baker Airguns has an Aztec Emerald FFP on his personal rig and that’s saying a lot. Check out his review, maybe you got a lemon, send it back and get a replacement... I do agree that their customer support needs help “big time”.

Holding zero and having turrets that reset to zero are two different things. I have two Aztec scopes and they hold zero as far a POI just fine. BUT you cannot reset the turrets to align 0 on the turret with the 0 mark on the scope. Some could care less about this fact and others want their base 0 to be 0 and not 2 or 3 clicks either way. It's just a design flaw that could easily be corrected with no spines on the scope shaft and 3 set screws in the turret cap. Like other scope manufacturers have done.

I have the same issue. I just sent it back to AOA for repair. My scope would allow me to reset the elevation turret to the "0" mark but not the windage turret. Now I wonder if AOA will do anything.

I also had tool marks on my magnification ring screw and windage turret screw.

I wish I would have read this post before I spent the money for this scope.

I always hold for wind, so zero being slightly off is a non-issue for me. But for elevation I use clicks, so that definitely needs to be resolved before I'd ever buy another Aztec.
