Awesome pigeon shoot!!

Stopped by a farm yesterday where I have shot in the past and again asked for permission to shoot, the guy didn't recognize me and I think was having kind of a bad day but gave me permission to go ahead and shoot around the farm just not in his buildings. I told him that was fine and I appreciated him allowing me to shoot, I killed 6 pigeons and a handful of starlings and sparrows in a couple hours shoot. Went back to the same farm today and the farmer met me and apologized for being kind of short with me yesterday and asked me if I had any guns that wouldn't shoot through metal roofing and I assured him I did and he said well you would be doing me a big favor if you would go in my freestall barn and get rid of every pigeon you can without shooting my water lines or shooting holes in my roof, I got a smile the size of Texas on my face and told him I would take care of his pigeon problem. Well several hours and a tin of polymags later I killed 66 pigeons that I was able to retrieve had about a dozen that I couldn't get. Sorry for the long story, Jamie. Oh and the farmer was happy as could be and told me to come back any time!!

Hey thanks guys, went back after dark and killed another 6-10 pigeons and probably 24-30 starlings. Sorry no pictures as it is snowing like crazy here in South Central PA right now. Farmer showed up while I was there and thanked me again for helping him out, I was like sir I should be thanking you.... Trust me the pleasure is all mine!!! Driver not a dummy question at all as I may have been misleading, everything I shot inside the barn was shot with my .22 Marauder pistol Which only puts out about 12 ft pounds and will not shoot through steel roofing.

Curious what .22 pellet you are using. I just got permission to shoot in and around some farmers buildings. I was told by the guy who set me up with the farmer he had a boat load of pigeons but so far none found in buildings. Got my Leshiy set up at about 13.5 fpe hoping it won't over penetrate. Thinking of going with H&N Terminators or Baracuda Hunters with semi hollow points . Bill

Bill, I use predator poly mags(not sure what grain they are) and JSB 18.13. The jsb pellets group pretty well and the poly mags are excellent, but they are expensive.

Thanks jspade. I have used the Polymag and think they are the best at expansion. They are expensive but I will be getting more I am sure. More than anything I think any flatter head pellet will create a better wound channel and lesson over penetration. Bill
