I'm 52 . Bought my first airgun in '77 a Daisy 880 when I was ten . The saleman explained to me what the "Layaway" program was . I worked all summer , every job that I could find . Paid in Full . Home I went , box over the shoulder ; happy camper . When I got home my mother called the hardware store to check my story . Yes , he paid for it the man said . Oh ya , it's mine . Well the rest you can imagine , and it is probably my fault that they don't sell pellet rifles to ten year olds any more ...... I still have that rifle .

Is the OP gonna tally up all the ages of the folks that replied and get an average as he inquired about? If so, gentleman’s handshake bet says it’s 58 years of age. Anyone care to bet me? Maybe Michael will throw in a Atlas bipod to the weiner.

And no, I did not go thru all 8 pages and calculated it myself prior to posting this, lol

^^^^^^

look up a couple posts. Top two already calculated. You lose. Pay up.

I'm 61 and my first BB gun WAS a Red Ryder about the age of 10, around 12 I got my first crossman pump .177 pellet rifle...it shortened the lifespan of many frogs. At 14 my dad bought me a Sheridan Blue Streak , which I still have, and the frogs were dead for sure now.Got into the PCP game about 2 years ago. It IS an infectious disease, that is spread by the accuracy and the desire to have MORE PCP.S. Although I'm 61, I have the mind of a mid 20' s , and my body has to remind me from time to time that I'm not. LOL

46. I also started with a Red Ryder living on our ranch shooting cabbage butterflies and grasshoppers by the bunches. I got a Crosman 760 at about 10 years old and graduated to starlings and sparrows. I then bought a Chinese side lever in HS and that was even better. Got out of air rifles for 20? years then got back into it with a springer about 10 years ago, then an Mrod about 6 years ago and now an Impact last year. I agree the younger generation generally doesn't have the disposable income for PCP's.

I just turned 60 and drank the cool aid on my trip to the dark side about five years ago. Don't won't to think about what I've spent on it but it's been worth every penny.

I can say I’ve mirror’d your path, and I, too, hate to think what I’ve spent on this hobby in such a short time. I remember when I unboxed my first PCP, a 25 cal synthetic Marauder, I was thinking to myself OMG what have I gotten myself into?! Equipped with that, a hand pump, and pellets, I thought I had everything I needed to enjoy this new hobby. The realization of being stupid for buying a hand pump due to my broken body made me start searching for other ways to fill my gun, and that’s when things went haywire in the pocketbook.

67 years old here in Arkansas. Started my airgun career at 9 with a daisy 25 pump. Many a sparrow fell to that gun. It was very accurate for a bb gun. I can remember being able to hit a nickel sized target most of the time from about 15 yards. Those were the days! That was 1961. My dad gave me 5 cents for every sparrow I brought him because they pooped on the farm equipment under the shed .
