Avenger .22 cal day 2.

Well, all the pundits were right, and it appears that manufacturing consistency is there. I just moved to the AEAC Eco-Tune with JSB Hades 15.49 grain at 33yds.

That's 5 shots. Here are two 10 shot groups.

All of that shot off of a cheap $30 Amazon bipod.

I am really going to enjoy this rifle!

Do you have Wal-Mart 14.3gr Crosman Premier Hollowpoints (CPHPs) to try?

Looks good!

Thanks!

Yes sir, I have those on the list of pellets to try. I started out with those yesterday when I was trying out the rifle for the first time as it came right out of the box. I didn't measure any groups yesterday, but even just "plinking" with the factory settings and those Crosman's, it looked like it was doing pretty good! I also have some RWS Super H-Point pellets (14.2GR) that I want to play with as well. I found those at a Cabela's on sale (they were priced something like $8 - they were trying to get rid of them).

I'm getting the same amazing accuracy out of my 25 cal. I'm curious as to how many shots per fill you are getting? I did a shot count run with the 25 @ full fill eco tuned (I think?) 1700 psi on the reg with the hammer spring at 1 turn. I got 66, 2.5 times what the specs say... Does that sound reasonable for the 25 cal. ? Accuracy... I'm shooting 8 shot groups (thats what the mag holds) @ 32 yds and I'm getting 1/2" groups repeatedly shooting from bags.

I haven't shot a full string from 300 BAR on my current tune. I started with the regulator set at about 800 PSI or so. I was just getting up to the FPS I wanted (~850FPS) after some shooting and dry firing. I also just realized that I probably blew through the "eco-tune", since my reg is now around the 1200PSI setting, with about 1.75 - 2.00 turns on the hammer spring. I was dry firing about 3-5 times between regulator adjustments, so my current shot count is probably not a very good measure. I've got 60 actual shots on this fill so far, and the pressure on the rifle is now sitting at about 1900PSI. I will finish this tank off, then re-fill and shoot an actual string to record the shot count and play with a different pellet (no reg adjustments).

OK. Just had time tonight to fill up to 300 BAR and I will be shooting a full string with my "pro-tune" using Crosman domes. I will see what accuracy looks like for those pellets, since the last ones were the JSB Hades. Here's the setup:

Avenger .22cal

Starting fill: 4350 PSI

Regulator: 1300PSI

Pellets: 14.3GR Crosman Premier Domes

I plan on getting to shoot tomorrow. If not, it will have to wait until Friday.

Cheers,

Sounds like yours is doing great also. Mine had a few leaks but that was no biggie. Its been functioning perfectly , shoots great and gets lots of shots. My reg is set at 1850 and 2 turns in on hammer spring gets me 875 fps with 18gr jsb. On a 4200 psi fill i got over 90 shots. I took it out for its first hunt tonight and it worked great. Post is in hunting gate.

I'm glad you were able to fix yours without much issue. I haven't taken any PCP apart before, other that replacing the trigger on my Discovery.

I just got done shooting a full string from 300 BAR until it fell off the regulator. 117 consistent shots until it fell off the regulator. Extreme spread was 37FPS and SD of 10.1. I had to turn down the hammer spring to +.5 turns from 0.

The first shot was 930 FPS, a tad too fast for accuracy. It settled down around 890 FPS which I called good enough. The rifle didn't like the Crosman Dome Ultra Magnums as much as it liked the JSB Hades, but I managed two decent groups below.

I shot the pellets straight out of the tin, no sorting, washing, or lubing. I had one minor feeding problem that I contribute to operator error (I inserted the first pellet in the magazine too far and it was sticking out of the mag).

They might be good for hunting if I focused on tuning for them, but I wanted to get a full string with my current regulator setting. I'm going to play with the rifle and different pellets at this 1300 PSI setting for a bit, only messing with the hammer spring.

If anyone is thinking about hand pumping this rifle, I think that is very possible. From 2500 PSI, at this regulator setting, you get around 30-40 shots with pellets this weight in .22cal.

I ultimately plan to use this rifle for pest elimination, and it should be well suited for that.
