ATN scope ABL (Range Finder) relocator adapter - smart and useful

This is how the factory look is.

ATN ABL (Range Finder) relocator adapter. Found this on a major online marketplace. Shifts the weight back towards the middle away from the end. Also looks much better, like it's an integral part of the scope. (Didn't buy it yet)

I have also installed the shims and think the abl looks much better on a backwards position. However I have tried with the ABL on the ATN X-sight pro 3-14x to shoot my FX wildcat at 50 yards and then at 15 yards letting the ABL do its work but the p.o.i. Was not spot on . When shifting between these distances doing each time a ABL reading a constant p.o.i. Change of approx 1” was there. Each time the same point of impact shift.. I have tried all settings, zeroing methods , environment setting elimination, fixations of all mounts , screws, canting issues et. etc. But at last my delaer confirmed that the system was able to provide a nice approximate estimate and adjust accordingly witht he ABL but it could not be really hole in hole spot on with my 2 chosen distances just by the technical capability. I was very dissapointed as I expected spot on adjustment from the system. Any comments on my dealer’s story or was his experience / explanation correct and did I expect too much ?

Should make sure that the BC profile for airgun pellets is properly set for your pellet type in the scope. Also, set the proper scope height, etc in the scope.

Having said that, I do not think that these range finders were designed for close distances. I estimate that their ranging ability is not measured by inches, but by feet and most likely by yards. The ABL supposed to have +/-1 yard accuracy.

The airgun pellets have a very different trajectory compared to firearm bullets because of the energy they lose very quickly. So even a few inches of difference in ranging estimate can amount to a large POI difference (vertically).

Look up Chairgun and estimate the trajectory for an airgun pellet, and you will see that it changes a quite a bit from yard to yard, especially if not zeroed in to a certain range like 50 yards.

Here are some tips by others, and they claim to be quite accurate at close distances; https://www.airgunforum.co.uk/community/index.php?threads/atn-x-sight-4k-pro-3x14-with-abl-am-doing-something-wrong.282552/

Thanks Fe7565. Indeed I have set all parameters correct, Selected G1 type of ammunition as I shoot with slugs. From internet info I understood that this profile get as close as it gets. Scope height also set very precize. Indeed I believe that the ABL is not specific enough for PCP rifles to work spot on within the distances we use. I would need zero’s within half an inch with any distance between 10 and 100 yards . If there is anyone achieving this with the X-sight pro 4K I would be very happy to get the tips how to achieve that.
