ATN 4K Pro ... front yard raccoon eating grapes .. they don't get nervous

These three bandits were NOISY. I'm sitting in the garage analyzing a welding project, think b4 u cut, and I hear weird noises from the front yard. Opened the front door and they just kept eating.

Grabbed the scoped gun, lost the moderator and bipod then got a few snippets of one of them. Sorry for HeavyBreather effect. They get a pass until they eat Tacoma truck wiring ;)

The scope shows 19yards in the bottom right corner, that's my second zero, but it was actually sub 20'.

The problem is, there just aren’t very many good things that come from having those guys being comfortable right next to your house…The only one I can think of, is watching them.

Years ago, my wife let our sheltie out into the backyard which was fenced. In the big oak tree were six raccoons, likely a family.

Dottie was very smart, she ran like the devil was chasing when called.

I scared them away by clapping my hands and yelling at them. They grumbled a bit before they waddled off.

My biggest concern would be having one get into an open garage door. That would kind of suck for whoever came home next. It would probably hide rather than jumping on your face like that squirrel did in the video…

I’ve only shot one in my neighborhood. It was for my neighbor who as dying of cancer. It was climbing up on his deck every evening and eating all his bird food. I had a safe angle to shoot.

The police came and dispatched one that had rabies. That was actually kind of a mess. I could’ve handled it much easier for them. Course I didn’t have any rules to follow.

Spooking critters was SARCASM.

I caught the sarcasm.

I believe that owl could see the ir illuminator. I thought it was interesting that he seemed to notice the ir laser rangefinder beam and chose to leave. Maybe the timing and head turning was a coincidence. In any case, I took your comment as an intro to ask for others opinions.

Sorry to tread on your thread.

No treading received here! Love the discussion and I don't mean to smartoff. Talk On Bro.

Mike, very clear video! Like your train of thought…no damage no shot 👍. Tight lines bro!

They're so DAMNED CUTE but I don't need a coon skin cap. We have fleece hats here and they work just fine.

Speaking of 'Tight Lines' I have ignored the salmon run thus far but I got the itch and they are present and legal up to Dec 31. We limited the boat on Pearl Harbor Day with five guys and no one lost their fingers to frostbite.

This year I am gonna light line it... winter steelhead rod, beads, bobber dogging, and 17lb leader and just play let the drag do the work.
