... ATN 4K Pro ... Ballistics Calculator questions

Howdy,

Just got it and not understanding the setup procedure for the Ballistics Calculator. I zeroed for 13 yards, using the One Shot and it works fine except the POI is2" high at 19yards. Calculator is not setup correctly. I have entered all of the info into the 'Current' profile... BC, range = 13yards, FPS etc. Ballistics Calculator is 'active'

1. In Profiles / Zero > Current am I supposed to Zero from there
2. In the Distance entry what should go there... it currently is indicating "Inf". It defaults to 1639 yards and you have to turn the wheel a bajillion times to get to 13 yards.
3. The compass only works when I first turn it on.

This thing is cool but FRUSTRATING. A little bit lost on the WHOLE PICTURE for setup.

Help

Pellets or slugs? Unfortunately the ATN does not have the GA ballistics curve.

Two schools of thoughts for pellets (as G1 works fine for slugs)--use G1 and mess greatly with FPS to match real life dope. Or do the same with GL (I have found GL a little easier for me).

Personally, I'm only really concerned with being fairly accurate out to 100y. I go either into strelok or chairgun, put my actual setup in on the GA profile, and then screenshot/print the dope chart in 5 yard increments. Then I start messing with GL to get as close a match as I can. I've found that with GL, messing with scope height (usually a reduction) gets me damn close to GA dope and I can have my fps fairly close to real world (does require some slight tweaking).

It may not be exact but I usually get to withing a quarter inch or less out to 100y.

Oh, don't use the atn app to program your settings in as it does some weird rounding when it saves to the scope. I only use the app to rename and then I do all adjustments through the scope.

My fall/winter pesting/hunting setup. I use the atn about half of the year due to shorter daylight hours, spring and summer I switch out to standard glass on my pesting setup.

This may help I set mine up and used it for awhile but forgot most of what I did. I had to cheat a bit with the drag coefficient to get things closer to on. Last I checked I was off only about an inch from 20-100 yards.

It takes awhile to get things close and to understand , how things werq, but it is well worth it when you start making hits at the various yardages.

It is great when the ABL adjusts your reticle and you actually hit what you are shooting at repeatedly at the different ranges without any hold over.

I got hold of a Leupold LTO thermal unit and put it on top. Thinking it will help out a bit if I ever get to do any pesting.

Thank You Gents. Spent most of yesterday in a waiting room for wife's skin cancer removal and that's what I SHOULD have been doing. Guns can wait!

I spoke with ATN and ended up ordering new MEDIUM mounts for this setup on my Taipan Vet. I won't go into what we discussed, too detailed and no one cares.

I will get it figured out and have Profiles for the Taipan and Prophet Performance Compact but it may take a few rounds ;)

Ordered the following because I like them, inexpensive and awesome, and have some from a BugBuster order unfortunately mine are 1":
