ATN 4K issue.

Well I got the new ATN 4k 5-20 Pro but I had to send it back because it would not turn off or allow me to use any of the buttons. This was an intermittent problem. At times it would allow me to use all of it's functions.
But since it was brand new I figured I better return it.

I'm waiting on the new replacement scope. Hopefully it will be better then the first one.

Anyone else have this issue?

definitely a learning curve, to these ATN 4K scopes, mine a 5-20 froze up once the other day......I think sometimes the combination of which buttons you push and for how long????....read the manual real well and check out the owners forum......These are amazing scopes for the money and I have only had mine about 10 days/////.....don't just push buttons !...Understanding how to navigate seems to be key, there is a LOT to these scopes!

I just wish there was more night critters out here in Michigan and it was 50* warmer !

I just sent back my 4k Pro 5-20.

I had mine freeze up about once a day. I can’t see how I would be able to hunt with it.

Also I find the quality just meh. The video, picture, and lcd quality just isn’t worth it for me. Its 1080 at 120 frames per sec at best.

But it is still a marvel of technology and I hope ATN works out the bugs. I’m looking forward to their 8k model.

The "bugs" of the ATN 4K are much the same as those of it's predecessor, the ATN X-Sight II HD, which were much the same "bugs" found in the original model. There have been at least three generations of these scopes and the same bugs persist. What is worse than all the bugs is the corporate morality demonstrated by the corporate heads of ATN. You pay your money up front and can only expect to receive a Beta model. And before all the "bugs" are worked out, your 2 year warranty is up. Thousands of buyers have fallen for ATN's empty claims and promises only to be disappointed. Then ATN comes out with a new model and all of a sudden there's a whole new crop of hopeful customer dying to part with their hard earned cash. And all the well intended warnings from previous owners avail nothing and people continue to flock to ATN's sales counters to plunk down more and more hootch. When ATN finally dies, they'll have to be SCREWED into the grave, or else the ground would spew them out.

Well I just got the replacement paid $579.99 New off Ebay (The first one was off Ebay also.) But this one was actually shrink wrapped and it is in much nicer condition. The buttons are crisp.
If I had to guess the first one from the other seller wasn't "NEW" like they claimed. (Although it was from a large retailer)

I just put it on the charger so it will be a few hours until I'll get to run it through it's paces.
But so far it seems much better then the first one.
Hopefully ATN can work out all the bugs in the software.

First, congrats on the replacement!

As far as I can tell, the new firmware didn't really help stability of the software. I still had mine freeze several times after the newest flash. In fact it had frozen the very last time I tried playing with it before it went in the box and back to OP. I am very thankful for OP's 30 day no questions easy RMA process and will highly recommend the Planet for the purchase of this product as it seems to still be in beta.

So I'm trying it out without updating it first.

I want to see if the Update was the reason it was giving me issue with the first ATN.
I'll play around with it for a while and then I'll update to see if it works differently?

Side note I had it charging for about 14 hours and it still isn't fully charged?? I would say it's about 90%.

I’m running mine with the 271 firmware and it’s solid. Some people upgraded to the latest and didn’t find any great improvement in image quality. Only major reason to update is if you have the ATN rangefinder and you want to pair it to the scope to do live adjustments to range.

Also, the battery indicator never reaches full no matter how long you leave it to charge.

Is it possible to pick which version of the update you download? Or is it? You get the latest and greatest only; on their website?

I’ve been following all this ATN Pro 4K night/day scope stuff on this forum and others that when it all gets figured out I’ll probably buy one and use my wife’s work laptop to do any programming I need to do to get it on the rifle and working properly but untill then I’m going to be watching and reading to see what you guys figure out, I’ve seen some good deals on this unit with external battery pac but all these issues are keeping me away from getting it right now, it would make such a nice scope for coyotes with a good IR light if the bugs got worked out.
