Atlas bipod review!

Great review! The only issue I had was with the pan tension knob coming loose as well. I remedied that on two different bipods by placing two thin nylon washers in there (for smooth operation) and applying red loctite to the threads, setting the tension nut to the desires pan and tilt, then letting it dry overnight. This locked up the nut permanently and the pan and tilt tension stays perfect. If it ever needs removing a good heat soak with a hair dryer will soften the loctite to remove the nut.

Great review as always Tom. I have the same bipod and the cant and pan feature is nothing to be desired. I purchased it in October of this year. After watching your review, the issues with the cant and pan features have now cleared things up. I thought that I received a defective model when I tried to lock in the cant and it would pop out of position.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this issue with the PSR. Maybe they have and I didn't do enough research. Even my Harris bipod with the cant feature works better than the Atlas PSR. I still plan to keep my PSR because I've now dedicated it to my EDgun Leshiy. It's the only bipod that I have that can be mounted on it in the folded position without the bipod legs getting in the way of the stock and air cylinder .

I received a new Accu-Tac BR-4 G2 about 2 weeks ago and it's so much better. I can feel the quality in that thing. It feels so robust but at the expense of weight. 20oz for the Accu-Tac BR-4 compared to the Atlas PSR BT46-LW17 at 13.6oz. Now if Accu-Tac would come up with another model that is still robust but lightweight, I'm all in.

On another note, do you still plan on uploading your videos to YouTube? I'm aware of the demonetization issues with YouTube but it would be so much better watching your videos on my smart TV.

I had the accutac and went back to the atlas. I didn't realize the accutac didn't pan. Not an issue for some but for where I hunt off of my porch rail this was a deal-breaker for me.

I can definitely see where that would be a deciding factor for someone.

Thanks! The issue is basically the same with all the ball & socket designs. The Atlas brand commands a lot of respect. They produce an excellent product and perhaps some reviewers are nervous to speak out about any weaknesses in the system since there are so many die hard Atlas fans. Those are great pics of your Leshiy. Thanks for posting them! I like how you made the Atlas work with the system.

The Gen 1 Accu-tac br-4 was lighter. But, it lacked the leg extensions and the tensioning wasn't as convenient, or effective, as the Gen2.

My videos are all premiering on Airgun101.com for the forseeable future. Youtube has deemed anything related to making a firearm more accurate as non-monetizable. That eliminates just about ALL of my content. They have decided to take a political stance by choosing to suppress the voice of decent people trying to share their knowledge. Luckily, I'm motivated to keep going due to reasons other than money. But, it's really getting difficult to continue without any financial backing, which is why I ask for my viewers support at the end of all my videos. There are still some benefits for me remaining on youtube otherwise, I'd be long gone. As it stands, videos that premier on 101 usually post on youtube about 2 weeks afterwards (as long as I remember). I think the Atlas clone goes up on YT tonight. @Airgun_hobbyist - Thanks for the tip!

Another very good review. This is a very good series. Glad to see you tell us all the good and bad.

Interesting with the pan and cant issue. I saw this looseness with one I purchased but my other two don’t do this at all. It was so much looser than my other two, I almost wondered if it was fake, but it wasn’t. Until that one, I had only ever had the issue with the clones. It wasn’t nearly as bad as the clones, but it was sloppy like you show. I just checked the one on my 22lr and I can’t get it to be sloppy at all. Won’t turn loose.

@Peskadot671 Thank you! I saw that and appreciate your support. It's been a tough week for me.

@bucketboy - I received the kit. I have a lot on my plate right now. If I get the time to try it on a real Atlas, I'll let you know.

@Smok3y - I'm glad you are enjoying the series. The next 2 vids are going to be good ones! Atlas has great customer support, as they should with the price they charge. If you have any issue, I'm sure they'd be happy to take a look and most likely rebuild it, good as new.
