Athlon Optics

I have an Athlon Argos BTR 8-34x56 Gen1 and the only thing I don't like is that it can only focus to 15 yards. Other than that, I don't know if it is repeatable for clicking for range as I only use holdover. However, I have never had a problem with losing zero using this scope and it holds a good zero regardless of the zoom or focus. YMMV

p.s.

For those who use springers, I have never put this scope on any springer as I no longer own any.

This is a G2 just not a Helos. Here is the thing. The Helos is $200 more. Once I sight this in I most likely won't shoot it more than a dozen times a week. I don't have a range and just spent a bunch on a FX Dreamline. This gun is an upgrade for a Benjamin Marauder bigger caliber better gun etc. I wanted the Dreamline so that is reason enough. I am having trouble wrapping my head around another $500 for a gun that will be so seldom shot. The one in question is around $350 and the Helos $150-$200 more than that.

I have the older versions of Argos, Helos, and Midas (plus another brand in the Helos price range which I won't name or suggest). The Argos is very good scope for that price range. I do notice a difference in clarity/sharpness when comparing it to the Helos or Midas. Since is sounds like you are an occasional shooter then I would say go for the Argos. A number of other members at the range swear by the Athlon brand and they have had at least one Argos. I will be buying a Helos for my next toy and like you I do say ouch at the price.

The G2 Helos is another year down the road in development, it came out this year. The Argos G2 was last year. The Helos G2 turned out exceptionally well IMHO.

Everyone has their budget limit so the extra money might not be worth it to you but it sure is to me.

If you don't need the extra magnification then take the Helos G2 4-20×50 into consideration.

I have the Athlon older version. Flawless. That's all I can say. Since I don't use much over 18X on a good day, all that extra magnification is wasted on me. Between the small eye box at high magnifications on all scopes, and the amplified vibration you see at higher magnifications, I prefer to stay on a bit lower magnification.

I'd buy another in a heartbeat if I needed it. No hesitation.
