Athlon Midas Tac 6-24 vs Aztec Emerald 5.5x25

I agree with Joe. I currenly own all of the scops mentioned. The Athlon Midas Tac is the clear winner here. Better glass, better turrets, and a true zero stop. The Vortex Diamonback 6x24-50 is a nice scope for the price but is not in the same league as the Midas Tac. However, you have to remember the Diamonback is $399 all day long and the Athlon Midas Tac 6x24-50 with the basic reticle is $629. I think the Aztec and the Diamondback are pretty comparable.

@rangur1, looking forward to Joe's review (didn't you send him this scope to review?). I think this comparison wasn't exactly apples to apples as far as the Midas TAC to the Emerald. One lists for twice as much as the other, and its a no-brainer which scope is better... I can tell you that the Hawke Sidewinder 6.5-20x42 is a better scope than the Aztec Emerald IMHO and I have an anecdote to show my opinion. That would be more of an apples to apples comparison...

At EBR last year, on one of the 75 yard qualifying rounds, I was done with my targets, and so was the shooter next to me. He had called a marshal to ask a question, since he couldn't tell on one of his targets if he had shot that target or not. If I remember, it was the 4th row down, first target. He was shooting a .30 FX Crown with an Aztec Emerald scope. My Bobcat at the time had the above mentioned Hawke scope. So this shooter was in a bit of a tizzy, worrying that an otherwise very good card could be ruined by either not having one shot, or having two shots in one target if he shot another. We still had a few minutes to go on the card. I looked through my scope, and it was plainly obvious that he had a "X" in the target in question. So I looked over at him, winked, and said don't worry... ;)
