Athlon # 1 and Athlon # 2 What's the difference

Athlon Optics Argos BTR GEN2 6-24X50 First Focal Plane Riflescopes What's the difference in the Gen 1 and Gen 2, I really like the scope for the money I have three Gen 1 on my guns I also have a few Viper 6x24-56 thats not FFP and I much prefer the Athlon scopes, Got a new gun coming and just need a good scope for it....Just thought I would ask before putting my money down.

I'm pretty sure the difference between the two generation of scope is the tube diameter. The 30mm tubes are the older versions, and all the new Gen2 scopes are shown with 34mm tubes. The larger 34mm tube diameter is the trend of all scope manufacturer's lately. The high-end scope manufacturer's are building them in 35mm tubes regularly now.

Midway USA has a deal on the Crimson Trace 3 series. It’s FFP, illuminated reticle, 34mm tube and made in Japan with ED glass. They have them 50% off at 499.48. I didn’t really need a new scope but the deal was too good to pass on and I ordered one. I know it’s $127 more than the Athlon you are looking at but definitely worth the extra money if you can spare it. I would compare it to the Ares series in Athlon, and actually like it better since it’s Japan built while the Athlon is made in China. The only Athlon made in Japan is the top end Cronus and I would definitely put that over the Crimson Trace 3 series but your looking at around $1300 for the Cronus.

The Athlon Cronus has a 25 yard minimum focus like the Tract Toric. The Crimson Trace has 10 yard focus.

Oh and the Delta Stryker too 25 yard minimum focus.

You made me drop the ball on the Crimson Trace 3 scope, Now I am going to have to order new rings as these are 34 mm and all I got is 30mm rings,,, I got plenty of time as the Vixen will not even be here until march. So I will have the scope and everything just waiting for the gun, Oh yea I am going to get the long in 177,,,
