Ataman BP-17 Update

I had the BP17 for about 1 week (after I unwrapped it).

Day 0: No machined fill probe in the box, manual plastic pack split, missing allen wrenches as well.

Day 1: Safety fell completely out of the gun before I could even shoot it.

Day 2: Cylinder leaked from 300 BAR to 250 BAR overnight. In addition all three of the extra mags I ordered would not fit in the gun unless forced. Once in they would not cycle. They were obviously defective. Mags that came with the gun slid in and out like butter.

Day 3: The gun shot 8 inch off flyers every 5 shots or so. I shot my $600 Galaxy S8 while filming a video (flyer)

Day 4: Trying to "settle the regulator" by shooting 500 rounds..so it would do under 50 cent piece size groups at 35 yards (if you don't count the 20% flyers) ...the cocking handle became permanently stuck forward with no magazine in the gun after about 100 rounds.

I'm sending it back to PY Air for repair. Hopefully round 2 will go better for me and the BP17.

...just DON'T BUY ONE.

Also: I was gentle with the gun, never abused or it or harmed it in any way. I just sat down at a bench on 3-4 occasions and shot it. None of the problems indicated above were caused by misuse.

Nate,

Sorry to hear about the bad luck that you ran into with your rifle..

I had a bit of bad luck with my Puncher Breaker a little while ago [notorious valve stem snapped]

I purchased through Pyramid Air also. I e-mailed them, explained the issue to one rep,
he transferred me to a 2nd rep, and she helped me handle the case / ticket - to get things taken care of.

An RA# was immediately given, as was the info / address for Air Venturi - Their other department..

I shipped everything back to them, and within a week or so - minus transit time, it was back in action!

In the time between, I had also inquired about a spare part - in case the same thing happened again
but after the warranty period was up.. Not only did they let me know it was finally available / in stock,
when I opened the box, the spare part was hiding in there also! I was really surprised, and a good way!

PA / AV went above and beyond, and, even matched my 2-day shipping speed to get it back quicker..

They're great people, and provide a fantastic service! So try your best just to keep a cool head,
and when communicating, try to be as civil as possible!

I'm currently in the retail / sales business, so, I know what it's like on both sides..

Cool / Calm / Collected always works a LOT better in the long run!

Best Of Luck!!

🙂

PS: I noticed that Eric Wilson jumped in already.. How cool! This is what I'm talking about!
E-Man to the rescue! haha Seriously though.. I'm sure everything will work out for the best..

👍👍

Eric, Thanks so much! I am getting my info together to PM you now.

Eric and Dovi, The girl on the phone was just following the rules. Sorry, I made it sound bad. PY Air is actually my favorite place to buy Airguns. I have probably ordered at least $20k worth of stuff over the last 6-7 years. I have never had any problems with PY Air. Air Venturi has actually fixed many of my personal guns that I wrecked or bought non working (old Evanix). So I have been sending things in for repair for years and I always tell everyone how "Air Venturi will fix your stuff and mail it back to you for super cheap".

......So thanks PY Air for kicking butt for the last 20+ years. Your still #1 in my book. -Nate
