Ataman AP16

"AirRanger"Nice choice, I’ll probably buy one soon. Did you get the black or silver? Compact or standard? Wish they would make it in .177cal.
Both kinda...
I bought the compact in black... and I ordered the standard barrel and air tube and extra mags the air tube is not in stock till December. gonna run a Pistol scope on the long barrel for paper and a very small red dot on the compact for hunting ,the little bit I did get to shoot with it yesterday I was impressed.

I got the silencer from Krale and it works great!

I too purchased one of these Great pistols. I wanted the .22 silver shorty, because this is one of the most powerful .22 pistols you can buy, that is as compact.

I modified mine a bit as I do all my AG's. Added checkering to the pistol grip, changed out the silver airtube, and cocking lever to black, and added fiber optic adjustable rear sight, and fiber optic front ramp.
It is a little loud, but no problem in my forest home area. I have 4 magazines, and getting all 4 mags, 21 shots per fill, using JSB 13.4gr pellets at 625fps. Love it

I forgot to mention that I also modified the trigger from the single stage which has quite a bit of creep, to a two stage utilizing a ball plunger to replace one of the adjustment screws. Very similar to the mod I did on my leishy. It now has a clean, and very predictable second stage break.
I don't know why many of the Russian guns utilize a single stage trigger with so much creep in it. Makes for a very unpredictable let off.

Have fun,
Scott

"seabee1972"where did you get that nice sights at and how do you do the trigger thanks chuck
I purchased the sights from Midway USA. The rear one is an adjustable fiber optic target unit, designed to fit the Sig Sauer P220 semiauto. I just had to machine the dovetails on it, so it would fit the Ataman dovetail.
The front sight was just one I saw on the Midway site, that I knew I could machine to fit in the pinned slot, where the factory front blade mounts.
These FO sights really enhance my old eyes ability to aquire the target.

For the trigger mod, I simply replaced the front trigger adjustment screw and spring, with a spring plunger. You can then just adjust the plunger screw in or out, to achieve the desired first stage travel, and second stage let off.

IMO, This is one of the best compact, powerful pistols, that you can get in .22cal

Have fun, Scott

I enjoyed my Standard 8" Black AP-16 so much I decided to use the Pyramyd Air "Pistol Custom Builder" and build me a 6" version. I have been shooting both for about 6 months using the Hades .22 Cal 15.89 pellets, Holosun 507C Red/Green Dot sight and a Huggett moderator.

They shoot very accurate, the 8" will shoot .75" groups and the 6" will shoot .85" groups at 25 yards. I am sure they will do better as I develop better pistol shooting habits. Shooting these PCP pistols has made me a better shoot with my powder burners

I can shoot the Ataman AP-16 any day of the week in my back yard as the Huggett moderator keeps the sound level down. I get about 3 magazines from the 6" tank fill and about 4 magazines from the 8" tank fill.

I would recommend the Ataman AP-16 to anyone that likes to shoot pistols and wants to get better at their skill level.
