Astigmatism and red dots and optic recommendations

Take a look at the Primary Arms Cyclops red dots . They all have focus for astigmatism. I'm a Huge fan of these .

Yep, because Prism sights have a diopter so the reticle/dot can be focused to the individuals eyes.

In the future my plan is to go Prism if at all possible.

I bought a Athlon 1x Prism sight and was astounded how nice it was to not get that "old eyes" bloom/dancing amoeba appearance that RD's have looked like to me for the last 10 years!

...I was thinking maybe buy the Holosun moving the Venom to the the P1...it has a big clunky 30MM Hatsun red dot scope on it how...

...I suppose I could unload the Venom pretty quickly as they are backordered everywhere...

...I could still just send it back...

...I did hit all the junk I shot at last night but the big bright dot was covering up the targets...there was some occluded eye type of thing going on, eh...

I've been looking into all the suggestions everyone is giving and I am starting to think that what I really want is not a red dot at all, I think I want either a prism scope or a small 1x3 (or 4x or 5x) scope.

Since this would be somewhat of an experiment, what would you recommend for under $200?

I'm eyeing this on Amazon:

Just not sure if they would hold up to a Springer? (Fwb124)

I've tried a See-All sight and it didn't really work for me. My issue was that I had to focus more on getting the little triangle on the sight lined up and in focus/view that it took too much away from actually shooting. For me a pistol sight should be transparent and work like it's not even there. If I have to work for the sight then it's not for me. Obviously different people will have different experiences, and that's ok.

If you really want a precise red dot, take a look at the Trijicon RM-09 with its 1MOA dot. Even though Trijicon does starburst on me, if I am outdoors and keep the brightness down it is definitely the most precise aiming dot out there.

...it is like you are going Full Yo here...excellent...!!!...and to think I almost bought the 507...

...FWIW I would jump on a reflex site the had 2.5 x magnification and a 1moa dot...

...not liking the wings nor the reported flaring issues but the 1 moa dot is just what I was looking for...

The other thing I would suggest to try.

At this point we don't care if you have -or not have - astigmatism, do you wear - or not wear - glasses.

Go to a store counter, take that red/green dot, put it in front of your head, both eyes open and don't focus on dot but on your target.

And rotate the red dot around a center line.

Do you see a dot or a line or a \ shape or is it blur or whatever. Is that shape consistently "bad" when you rotate it or it is rotating with the scope?

If the shape is changing...that is a low quality built (no matter of a piece price) and not necessary your eyes are wrong.

I have had the same experience. I have red dots on my competition Bulleye pistols and a red dot on my LP 50. I have an astigmatism and my eye glasses correct the red dot perfectly. As Pumacarl said, it’s pretty common that the prescription isn’t accurately ground.

An easy way of telling is the blur is coming from your eye or the scope is to take a picture of the dot with your phone. If the scope is good the the photograph will be a perfect dot.
