Artemis pp700sa vs Marauder pistol

I live in a single family home on a fairly small lot (1/4 acre) in a developed area, and have a serious tree rat infestation that has become destructive. The little buggers are tearing up furniture cushions to steal stuffing for nests, tearing up my lawn, etc. Due to my living situation, I'm planning to pick up a PCP pistol because it is a little less blatant than walking around with a rifle, and am also looking for a solution that is fairly quiet (I am open to adding an LDC).

As an aside, I have shot firearms and to a lesser degree air rifles/pistols my entire life (44 years), so I am familiar with the importance of a good backstop and placing safety above all else. 

I have narrowed my selection to two options: the Marauder pistol and an Artemis pp700sa. Due to the fact that I get pro deals on Crosman/Benjamin they are within $50 in price. Which is the better option for my use?


 
Marauder pistol all the way...have several AG and still use and love the PROD is a laser up to 30 meters, light as a feather ... and huge data base of mods available

What with a discount and all would it be worth considering the crosman 1701P ? In decent conditions it will hit a house fly ( okay big ole horsefly's) at 50 yards in stock form, change the TP for a bit more fps/fpe. Really an outstanding value in a pcp pistol. 



Haven't ever seen the 700, do have a marauder pistol which is a nice light clip fed carbine and could be used for PFT but personally I couldn't use it as a pistol.

I have a pair of PP700SA, both the Artemus from Krale in a .22 and Mrodair version in .177. Both were little rattletraps when I got them, but w/ huma regs and a bunch of work they are OK. I bought the first one, then determined to make a guided pellet block for it I bought the .177 too. didn't take off and these are not my favorite guns. They bark pretty loud w/o a mod too.



If you want a really nice pistol, look at the Ataman AP16. It's very accurate and takes the same LDC as I had on the PP700SA so I've repurposed that. A friend loaned me his as he wants to trade for the pair of PPs. I shot the heck out of it at the field 2 weeks ago and really like it. It does take some pressure to fully charge it though - 300bar.

So glad someone made this thread! Was wondering the same even though I just purchased a p-rod! Anyone have any good links they can share about must do mods? Seems there are a lot of options for this gun. Want to dial mine in for power (maybe a little efficiency... maybe lol)

I have 2 pp700, a pp750 1720T and tried a Prod. Based on your description I say pp750 or even a pp800 or bandit in 22. Both very accurate, lots of shots and they are smaller than a prod. My personal experience with prod is that you have to mess with it a lot before it shoots ok but not great. The 1720T is night and day more accurate but only in 177 and single shot. If you are new and have tree rat problem I would pick pp750 first and then pp800. With the pp750 you can get it tuned and to your door for 300 and spend the 150 you saved on a moderator, then go to amazon to get a cheap red dot or rifle scope and you will slay tree rats for just around 550 bones. Since you are on small lots get a 22 sumo and no one will know! Don’t forget a pump for about 80.



pp700 is really really good but single shot, if 750 isn’t on consideration for whatever reason then the 700 over the prod hands down!

the Chaser is just a CO2 version of the Bandit so you could just buy the CO2 Chaser rifle and use the pistol grip and stock on the Bandit. You would also get the longer rifle barrel that way which you could then use with the Bandit as well if you wanted.

Unfortunately it’s not that simple. Although people make a wood pistol/carbine kit for bandit. The chaser parts don’t really work. Trust me I spent a lot of time on the blogs about this one. Was what I wanted to do as well. Easiest way to prove it is google Diana Bandit with Chaser stock. You will see some bandits modified into pistols. But with custom wood stocks on here. Diana isn’t like Crosman and Benjamin. It’s actually why I went with the marauder. I wanted so bad do something a little different and work on a Diana. Really your best choice here is to buy the co2 to PCP conversion kit thats being made for the chaser. It’s about $100 and holds a decent amount of air. Think I read about 30 shots at medium power or something like that
