Arken SH4 Gen2 4-16x50 Mil

Well decided to upgrade my scopes to all having a Christmas tree reticle in them. Had an Arken SH4 4-14x44 and kick myself for ever selling it. Great little scope. I've been looking at the Arken 4-16x50 for a long time but the long waits drove me away every time. I ordered one 2 days ago with roughly a 1-2 week wait. I can do that. Will be replacing my tried and true Athlon Midas Tac 4-16x44 that resides on my Tikka T1X. Looking forward to getting it and seeing how it is!

Yes the parallax isn't great for airguns I'll admit but really anything less than 25yds I don't need top magnification so itd work out ok. Going on my .22lr it won't be an issue for me with the parallax.

And yes I do have the Helos BTR 2-12x42 still! Love that little scope! That's on my .22 Taipan Shorty. That one won't go anywhere! One of my favorite scopes I owned. Like it better than my Midas Tac 4-16x44.

I bet that EP5 is gonna be awesome! I didn't look but did they have the VPR reticle also?

I'm looking forward to your review of the Arken.

Earlier this week I put my other Athlon 2-12x42 DMR on my 6mmFatRat AR. I could still see where I missed in the cinders, and hit a 14" plate at 1150Y, on Wednesday in tough winds holding off up to 2 mils. Definitely a super versatile scope!

I'd love it if Athlon made their ETR 3-18 with the same type of mil reticle as in the 2-12 but with a .2 mil center dot and .06 mil line thickness!!! For whatever reason I like these thicker reticles in FFP scopes.

Yeah Steve I love that scope! The reticle is definitely not for everyone but I personally love it! I think it's cause I can use it at such low power compared to other scopes. If I was thinking I wouldn't have sold my 3-18 Ares and likely had that on my Tikka. But a $1000 scope on a $500 gun did seem silly to me at the time. Oh well.

Batman2, good to know. I prefer lower powered scopes over higher powered personally so was a natural choice for me

I got one of the 4x16 with the Brandon discount code $299 n what a great scope... I still have a pair of their 4×14 .. discontinued . 2 of the ep4 discontinued.. first company I have seen doing that .. waiting 2 of the ep 5 .. I'm not a scope expert by any means.. but after looking through the 4x16.. is really Impossible for me to justify spending more than the cost of the ep5 on a scope to use in a airgun that is no longer completely accurate from 200y n up .. even if you're shooting a full tricked texan the glass on the 4x16 n the ep4 6x24 would be enough..for me anything above $550 to $600 is simply a waste of money on a pcp...I never got the sh4 in 6x24 reviews are not that good.. they should have focused the sh4 in a4x16 n 3x18 configuration..

I'm using the akren sh4 gen2 6-24 on my impact. Great turrets and great glass. Only think that isn't so great is the accuracy of the parallax wheel. Not a big deal to me since I use a range finder.

I saw a YouTube review of the arken 6-24 and the guys opinion was the 4-16 was better but at our airgun distance, you would have to be pretty picky to notice.

I use my scope on 20x most of the time. It maybe is a little sharper/crisp at 20x vs 24x.

Yeah I think for the price there hard to beat. I honestly wish they still kept the 4-14x44 scopes as they were great little scopes. Perfect for your average airgun. Lightweight and great tracking and 10yd focus. I bet your EP5s will be great when you get them.

Jacob, glad to hear your liking it! You bought my 4-14x44 I used to have. Seems you liked it enough to get the big brother! Yeah I'm not worried about the parallax being "accurate" as I also use a range finder. Ive seen a video or 2 showing similar where the 4-16 is preferred over 6-24 but really could be down to personal preference. I haven't owned a scope in years that was over 18x and that was my 3-18 Athlon Ares. All my other scopes are 2-12 or 4-16. Just preference.

Got it and I'm very impressed so far. I can't wait to get it all sighted in and stretch it out. It's a BEAST of a scope.
