Arken optics SH-4

Whose got one? I recently got a Athlon Midas Tac 6-24x50 and while that was quite an amazing scope compared to everything I had it was just way too big for my needs. So now looking for a smaller scope and while I could go the route of Midas Tac 4-16x44 I wasn't a huge fan of how tiny the center dot was at lower mag. But the SH-4 is very very similar and I like the floating crosshairs. And price is also a good $240 cheaper and includes a sunshade.

I have one on my impact, The glass is very clear puts the Athlon argos that was there before to shame, the turrets are the best i"ve felt and the zero stop is just that a good solid stop.

I bought it because I was looking for a lighter scope and it doesn't dissapoint. Cyclop's did a great review of it.

I had one on my impact I sold as a package to pay some bills very nice scope greatest turrets iv touched the reticle at 12 to 14 x is thick well thicker than I like but at 6 to 10 its great very well made I emailed them yesterday to ask about stock and they said 4 to 6 weeks out id get the next model up he has told me the reticle is very thin but price goes up also id buy one again if that's what I wanted for sure

I really hate thick reticles because I like to shoot tiny things really far .. the reticle on the arken is a little bit thicker than my atholton 10x40x56. Or a Hawke tmx reticle..but I like it a lot really enjoy that scope that I buy another one for my regulated talon build..n as soon this Corona thing is gone will like to try their 6x24x50 -- 34 mm tube with the same reticle

Thanks for that reference. Everything is a matter of perspective right. I hated how thin the reticle on the Athlon 10-40 was. I also wished the Hawke had been a bit thicker. Only being a bit thicker doesn't sound very thick to me though, for my personal perspective, so I guess they could still be considered a thin reticle to some people. Mostly heard just good things about them, so they seem to be doing something right.

I think the reticle is just right. My Athlon Midas Tac 6-24x50 reticle was too thin mainly the center dot for using anything below 18x which im used to 10x fixed scopes so that much mag was just too much for constant shooting. On 14x I'd say the Arken SH-4 is definitely double thickness to a 10x SWFA maybe alittle bigger. Shooting starlings at 80yds no issue with it. What I like about the thickness is it doesn't get lost on dark targets. I got nothing bad to say about the scope. I really enjoy it.

I looked into the blackhound but the reticle killed it for me. Seems like it was designed for a much higher magnification.

Dillon,

could you explain a little what "killed" it for you, and how the reticle is "for a higher magnification"?

I'm trying to learn more about reticles, and why many feel so strongly about certain reticles, both positively and negatively! 😄
