ARE THEY WORTH IT?....JSB Exact Premium Diabolo, .177 Cal, 8.44 Gr, 1/9/16

As the pics show:
They are a new and different pellet
There is no lead dust
I weighed 100. It was a waste of time.
Consistency of head and of skirt size is second to none in my Yrrah Roll Test.
Measuring them is a waste of time.
They were very much in evidence in the World Championships at the benches and on the dais.
At the recent Australian first selection trial for next year's Euro Chps and World Cup they were used by the top shooters with 25 m outdoors scores to 499/500 in LV in wind and rain.

But like always, best to try in your own rifle.
BC is lower than a good batch of regular 8.44s; and is similar to JSB Express.
From my two barrels in my RAW TM1000, an LW and a FWB, they show no irregular flight patterns to 70 yards even in winds, but drift a tad further than best batch regular 8.44s (see BC comment) and similar to JSB Express.

If you are a competition outdoors WRABF 25 m BR LV shooter they may be worth the money, I have a few boxes.
If you are a USA coffee can plinker, or shoot pest control for rats to rabbits, sparrows to pigeons, I doubt you will need them or find them economical.

Regards, Harry.

Harry
Thank you so much for your input. I'm still relatively new to the sport with only a couple of years of shooting PCP's under my belt and only about 7 Field Target matches so far.
I have just recently started trying my luck at home with shooting the WRABF targets benched with my .177 Cricket rifle. The best I have done so far is 247 with 8X's at 25 meters and I'm getting to the point where I can stay in the low 240's consistently shooting the JSB Exacts straight from the tin unsorted. I'm just trying for that ever elusive 250 score and wanted to try these to see if it's possible?
I'm not sure if my Cricket Rifle qualifies as a production rifle as it was tuned by Ernest Rowe? But if it is, I've heard the 240's are pretty darn good for a production rifle?

Also, as good as the rifle shoots the regular JSB's from the tin, I'm sure it's more than a competent Field target rifle as is! My scores for that will rely more so on my scope and range finding abilities ;-)

Thanks for taking the time to help me with your personal experience with these pellets. Maybe one day they will have some bench rest competitions here in North Carolina, and I can try my luck ;-) We have several folks in our airgun club interested in trying it.

Happy Trails
Fuss

I have shot many very small 5 shot groups to 60 yards with H&N Baracuda match pellets particularly when sized head and skirt to 0.1780"/ 4.52mm from the RAW TM1000 at 14.5 to 17.5 fpe.
They have been a mainstay over the years for our Aussie silhouette shooters some of whom have been to the very top of the world in that discipline.
For the USA shooters here, $25 Aus currently + $17.50 US. Not sure how that compares to your price but it is a long way further from CZ to Aus.

Fuss, you are already doing well if those scores are 25m outdoors with separate front and rear rests and according to WRABF rules. ............... Regards, Harry.

I have no doubt you have shot some exceptional groups with the Bara's,Harry, my rifle prefers 4.51mm headsize and I am happy with the results using them straight from the tin, maybe one day I will try sorting and sizing. I have shot with our silhouette shooters who made it to the top of the game and I am constantly amazed by their shooting skills, I think .22cal and JSB's are more popular for silhouette these days.

Harry, yes I used my Bald Eagle front rest and a Protek rear bag shot from my picnic table to a lasered 28 yds. My best so far just shooting from the tin with no sorting and scored with a .22 gauge.

I tried the H&N's and this rifle just prefers the JSB's. It also groups better with the 8.44 JSB than the 10.34? I guess those Czech barrels prefer Czech pellets?

I just ordered four boxes of the Premiums from Pyramyd Air at $14.99 each with (buy 3 and the 4th one free). Came to $52.96 shipped. That's almost 7 cents per pellet which is pretty steep considering my last purchase for the regulars at 2 cents per pellet.

Doc, The "Force" is strong with the "Dark Side" . I have 7 PCPs. Wold have 9 but sold/traded two out already. Need to find good homes for 3 or 4 more! LOL
Waiting on a friend to come by and shoot w/me who might take a few off my hands? He lives 2 hours away, maybe we'll get together before spring?

My three keepers are my two Crickets .25 & .177 and my .22 FX 400.

Waiting on a check to get here and I might just call Mike Niksch and order one of his Thomas creations in the FT variation ;-)

I really like the Red and White one he has pictured ;-)
It's funny....."Thomas" is my middle name. Maybe get him to put James "Thomas" Fussell on it???? LOL
