Hi!

My slug experience has been on raccoons, armadillos and rabbits.

There appeared to be no significant difference between similar weight pellets and slugs. They both perform clean kills if the animal is withing normal air gun range. I have not noted any hollow point slugs fragmenting at the speeds I shoot...900-950 fps. While there are some interesting new head designs in heavy hollow point pellets today, I have not had experience with them, but they may be more prone to fragmenting.

If you prefer slugs over pellets, there is no harm done. There should only be a significant difference between the two projectiles if you can propel a heavier slug at a higher speed than a lighter pellet. I like to shoot hollow point slugs...they were great when heavier pellets were not available in years past...but they are quite expensive due to the labor involved in making them.
